I made my *fast* mad today... haha

Not to hijack, but a few years back a friend of mine took me to a friends house where he had to pick up some parts, anyway I saw a 302 block sitting there in a plastic bag and looked in the lifter valley and say the "En Hencho Mexico" and thought damn a mex block... I asked him what he wanted for it and he said 15 so i paid him the money and took it home where I could better see it.. Heres the hard part to believe but completely true.. the block was BRAND NEW!!! It had never had a piston, rod, cam, oil, coolant you name it in it.. Talk about a major score.. I held onto it for about 3 months with the intention of building something with it, but lost interest and sold it on corral for $250.. lol.. ill post pics of it tonight!

Damn... you get the Darwin award for sure. lol

You could have gotten a $1000 for that block if it were never even used.

wow.. i didn't realize they were worth THAT much.. i just figured a little more than a normal 5.0L

My father traded tranny work (he is a tranny tech) for the block and the work done to it with a guy that owns an engine shop in town...

not a bad deal really.. basically trading skills.. and I got a good b-day present :nice:

Generally they're not but his was unused. You figure the price difference and power capability of a Ford block vs. the Dart Sportsman vs. the Mexican block.

Used and in good condition, I see Mexican blocks sell for between $600 and $800 to and from folks that know what they are.

I made a good profit on it.. I didnt know it was worth that much, I know they are slightly stronger than the e7 blocks, but I have heard from many people they they do not compare to the darts, r's, etc. It didnt have the main caps however, it was just the block. I bet the main caps would probably be a hard piece to find.. That was years ago though.. The money was spent on my education and has got me to where I am today, so no complaints, it was money well spent!

Becareful in that saturn.. My buddy had one just like it when we were 16. we got into an accident with it and al most got killed when in any other car it would of been a normal fender bender. The bumber of a jeep came through the passenger door and almost impailed me. If i had my seatbelt on i wouldnt have a spleen or something right now. But i do agree it will be awesome for the winter.. His was.

It makes me happy to hear that..

not about the accident though... of course, i dont PLAN on wrecking it.. but you can't always control that.

I just find it fascinating.. now that im looking up info on saturn stuff.. that the people who own these cars love them as much or MORE than us fox guys. Its unreal.. and the dealerships apparently give FREE diagnostic checks and FREE car detailing (there is a limit on that though) no matter how old or where u bought ur saturn.

Seems like most common problem with them is TAM (top engine mount) and the water pump.. other than that I hear nothing but good things. So, i've got good faith in it.. hopefully it will treat me well.

Im gonna do a tune up on it tonight when I get home from work. Just for good measure.. plugs, oil, filters, etc.

Cupholders for the backseat :nice: I would love to just have some for the front. What the heck was Ford thinking not putting in a cupholder. They must of had stock in one of those companies making those clip on cupholders for the doors:lol:

I'd daily that lol. I daily a 79 jeep right now which does worse on gas then the stang, but it's so easy to park and I don't worry how the stang is doing in the parking lot all day. I don't drive the car all that much anymore, usually short trips and cruising.

Someone needs to pimp his ride with Paint or Photoshop...I would but I'm a complete turd of an artist:(

I WOULD LOVE to see this done :rlaugh:

Both in humor.. and actually in *good* taste.. I wouldn't mind trying to make the saturn look a little more masculine...

Did I mention it has a bumber sticker that says "My weiner dog is smarter than your honor student!" ?? hahaha :rlaugh: Im keep'n that.

You would not BELIEVE how easy it is to pilot this car around.. it can pull a U-turn and barely touch the center line in one lane. Parking is a breeze...

Im sure everyone here knows the turning radius on the Fox is pretty crappy.

<<<====] Shows Adam the map on the wall that has the X on it and is labeled "You are Here".

Points at the x and slides finger across the map to the Saturn forum.

"Out the door and make a left. Follow Interweb alley to HTML drive and travel for approx. 1 mile until you come to very outer boundary of Domestic Forum Street. Make a right. Follow that street until you get to Small Domestic Forum way... If you see a street called Domestic Rice, then you've gone too far. Turn left on Small Domestic Forum Way, and the Saturn site is 2 blocks in. You can't miss the building because it's the only one made totally from plastic." :D
