I need a brake power booster.

Nice Jerry.... :)

Hey, is that 1-1/8 bore MC for if you have a power booster? Of if you just stayed with the manual set up? I've decided to not pursue the power booster idea. But I wouldn't mind optimizing my manual system. So I guess from what I've learned.. the only thing I can really do is get the best bore sized MC for what I have. Is there really a MC that works better than another? Why go with the pricey JMC unit if it won't perform than my current dual bowl MC? Looks don't really matter to me at the moment.

the 1 1/8 bore MC is indeed used with the powerbooster used on 4 wheel power disks. When I first swapped out the drums for the 4 wheel manual disks, I got a 1" bore MC. I was told that anything bigger than that would result in too hard of a pedal. Now that I have 4 wheel power disks, the bigger bore MC is ok to use. I have to say that the 4 wheel manual disks weren't that bad now that I think about it.

Here is a good thread for general manual-brake info:

I am not a brake expert (perhaps I am no more than an 'uniformed schmuck' ) but I cannot see why a standard MC will not work for you. But then I am very low on the 'bling' scale and high on the 'inexpensive/functional' scale personally.

Wow... some deep chit in there!! How does one measure their bore on their MC? I could unbolt the MC from the wall and then measure that diameter that the brake rod pushes into? I'm starting to think that maybe I should swap over to the MC that Baer sent me with the kit. The reason I didn't do it in the first place is because the ports on the engine side vs. the fender side. I would have had to bend brake lines... I tried that once... I suck at it. So what are the chances Baer did the homework and sent me the best MC for my application??

Has anybody come up with a good setup for a '65, yet? I've got discs all the way around, and I use a '67 package to pump them.

Anything better out there?

Baer has a strong reputation of being high quality, high cost. I have never bought from there (due to the second point, there :p ) but I would not be uncomfortable going with their recommendation.

Yea, thats a deep thread, but it gives you an idea of the hidden complexities in some of the questions you raise. I would avoid this issue by using one of several combinations (M/C, prop valve, caliper) that others have used successfully...you dont have to invent a brake system from scratch and understand every theory. In your case I would use either the Baer MC or a stock replacement. It will be fine in ~ 99% of cases, and if not, at least you have a baseline in YOUR combination to work from.

Bending brake lines just takes practice. 3/16 line from AutoZone or NAPA is a buck a foot or something, cheap stuff to practice on. I never have trouble bending, its the double-flaring that kicks my rump

here is a better option. it has the booster, MC and the correct pedal in akit form

http://mpbrakes.com/bm1521ks.htm

it's $395.00 but i swear i've seen one on ebay that's about 100 bucks cheaper. if i can find it i'll post it up as well, and it actually uses your current pedal too, so you don't have to change pedals. anyway let me jump on ebay and see if i can find it.

dang that was quick. just typed 67 mustang power brake conversion in the search box and it pulled right up. this is the one where you don't have to change your pedal. oh by the way, it is from laurel mountain mustang in case anyone wanted to know
