I need Advice for new hood ’89 fox.

Someone backed into my stock hood (an SUV I can tell by the spare tire marks). My insurance deductible is $500, local shop charges $700 to fix. So I went online and found a few hoods in that price range. Some are carbon fiber some are fiber glass. I don’t have any experience with either so I would appreciate any input. I have not been able to find any pictures of the hoods installed on car.

I have narrowed it down to three. Here are the links. (I’m not necessarily going to buy them at these websites)

i've always loved the look of a ram air/mach1 hood. If you want to try and keep it sleeper and just lose the weight off the front there are a couple places that have the stock fox hood but in fiberglass.... I'd go with that if I didn't love the ram air hood so much. Also, I think carbon fiber is stronger and lighter than fiberglass... but I don't like the look of it so i'd go with fiberglass...just my .02 though..

Who has stock hoods in fiberglass?

First off I thank you all for your suggestions. Now I too love the stock look but what I forgot to mention was that the engine bay gets really hot, ever since I installed the BBK headers. That’s why I’m looking at these other hoods. I really don’t want to look like a total rice tool either. Here are some pics of the damage.

I really like the Cervini’s heat extractor but I haven’t found a single picture of it installed on a real car not a promo picture. Plus I would still have to paint it.

Almost any Carbon fiber hood you find under 1k is just a fiberglass with a CF overlay. Another thing to worry about is that the CF will turn yellow over time if it sits in the sun.

To be honest, i think the hood scoop fad may be overdone. Every single truck or car i see out there now has some ugly hood with scoops looking like nostrils on it.

I really love the clean stock look. When i go aftermarket, i plan on buying a fiberglass stock style hood with the smallest cowl I can find.

I would go CF too...i think it looks good on black cars with hood pins.

I totally 100% agree. They brought a Sport Track into the dealership the other day. 4.0L V6, had those hideous scoop ad-ons on the hood and the paint was fading on them, and those stupid side vents that stick on!!!!!!!!!!:bs:

Anyways, My personal fav is always the 2.5" Cowl, its straight forward and to the point. Thats what will be on mine, nothing fancy, just functional!

Trust me, just go with a Cervini's hood (any Cervini's hood)....the fit & quality on everything else pretty much sucks & you won't be happy.
