Hey i bought some used draglites for a good price. Come to find out the rears are 4.5" bs. Ideally i would have liked 5.5" but ill have to work with the ones i have. I know i can get it to look decent. I need some pics of tire combos for draglites with 4.5" backspacing. Also, do ET streets run a bit narrower than et street drag radials?
thanks!

Having run draglites with a 4.5" backspace personally, I'd say to sell them. My street tires rubbed the outer fenderwells pretty bad when hitting bumps or with people in the back of the car on my '89 LX, and I'd imagine drag radials would be horrendous.

Did have the FMS lowering springs, but I think they only dropped the rear about a half inch. Tires I believe were a 255 or 265/55/15. Try to find as many opinions as you can from people that run that backspace before actually mounting tires and putting them on your car. They looked awesome; tires were basically flush with the fenders, but the tire rub was unbearable.

I've got 15x7's in the front and 15x8's in the rear, both with 4.5" backspacing. I've got 215-60-15's on the front and 295-50-15's on the back. The rears will rub the outer wheelwell lip unless you install a set of Air Lift airbags in each rear coil spring. The airbag kit can be bought from Summit Racing and costs about $75.00. Both my brother and I went with this look because we love that old Musclecar look, where the tire's stick out slightly (not enough to be gaudy though).

Here's some pic's of our cars. Mine is Yellow while my brother's is Blue.

Awsome! thats exactly the look i want. Not sticking out, but as close to it as i can get. I think im going with 26x10.5 et streets. They will run narrower than a 26x11.5 (275/50/15), but still look good.
Dean85gt- what size tires are those? look great!

i have both 4.5 and 5.5 rims and i would keep the 4.5. you will get more clearence on the inside.

my street tires run othe 5.5 bs rim. they are 255/60 and the come really close to rubbing my flipped quads. they actually do rub sometimes, there are rub marks.

the 4.5 gives you more clearance there. plus they look good. i was worried about them sticking out too far. but they actually look better IMO

heres some pics of my draglites with 4.5 i use them at the track
the tires are 26x10.5 et streets

they suck in under the fender more than the 4.5s

and also both sets of these rims are 15x8

Foxfan88- Nice car it looks great. Im going to be running the same et streets as you because they dont stick out and look good. Do you happen to have any close up pics or no?
thanks anyway!
keep them comin

there is PLENTY of clearance with the et streets. there is so much room on the inside i wouldnt doubt an 11.5 would fit also.

the 4.5 just looks better to me, it doesnt stick out, its actually perfect and has a deeper dish to them. only reason i dont run them with my street tires is my other set with 5.5 bs... i wouldnt be able to run a good sticky tire without it rubbing.

i'm going to stick with a 26 inch tires. they hooked excellent. i could dead hook at the track leaving the line at 4k+ with my blower and everything, it left hard and i am assuming a brand new set will work even better. plus i may go going with 3.55 in the future for street manners so i dont want to get a taller tire and kill my car at the track with 3.55s and a 28" tire

i dont have any closer pics, the car is broke down and the tires arent even on the car. once i get it running hopefully i plan to play around with the worn out et streets on the backroads and finally kill them before i get a new set for this season. i will snap some pics then, and send you some if you would like. i duno when that will be though.

quick question- alot of people dont run centercaps in rear, but they do in the front. Is there a reason for this?
i thinks it's just cause they don't have all 4 centercaps and they just have 2, i'm buying a car tomorrow and it used to have the front 2 centercaps on it, but now it don't have any, and i don't know if i'll buy any
