I need hotter 302 heads...maybe 351s?

alright guys, i think its about time for new heads. my car is pushing about 300 hp estimated and i want more. i have a 65 stang with a 302 and c4. ive been thinking about some new heads. how should i go about this? what are the best heads out there for the money? what should i do?

Hey that's great!
More info please, what engine size?
transmission?
Intended use..street? strip? etc.
also the camshaft/valve springs need to be matched,so can I ask what the camshaft is? Stock?

yeah i guess i forgot the important info...ive got a 302 with a c4. just bought the car a cpl weeks ago so im not sure on all specs of engine. all the info i have on the camshaft is its a comp cams 220/488. comp cams roller rockers and push rods. intended use is daily driver, but i want to do some road racing and drag for fun

Does it have stall converter and what are the rear gear ratio?

Trick Flow Twisted Wedge and AFR 165 are good performance heads - typically around $1100 - $1200 a pair, but I would match it with better cam, like the Comp Cam XE274H. With this combo, you will need 2400+ stall converter and at least 3.73 gear ratio.

Not just "what is your setup?" but "what is your budget?" are appropriate questions here.

If your budget is tight my I suggest early 289 heads with small chambers. Then buy a set of grinder dies and get to work. You can have larger valves installed and some screw in studs.

If you can afford it, aluminum heads are your best bet. AFRs are a top choice, Twisted Wedge or Edelbrock are good too.

Hey guyst i have a 1969 mach 1 with 351 Windsor, and i was thinking of edelbrock Victor Jr. heads. Are these good heads? And can anyone explain what a stall converter does exactly? Will i need one for my FMX tranny if i get the car to 400 hp at the flywheel?
