I was leaving my house earlier and hit a 1/2 of a brick that was laying in the road, i thought it hit the k-member brace (convertibles-only brace i think) but I cant tell yet.. Anyway, the next big sharp turn I took I hear a weird buzzing/grinding noise. If I barely flutter the throttle it will make a pretty loud wirring/buzzing as it jumps from 900 down to 500rpm (like sticking a straw into a boxfan..).

I tried to look but its dark, there seems to be a little bit of fluid splashed onto the swaybar looking down from the top at it..and some fluid possibly around the p/s pump. Theres no way the pump got hit though, theres way too much that wouldve gotten hit first.

WTF happened? All I can think is that it must've hit an arm on the steering rack and broke something and now theres trash inside the PS pump.

IM SO SICK OF FIXING THIS THING! My rear end grenades for no reason in november (spider gears destroyed themselves), i get a ticket for expired tag the DAY i get my car out of the shop after being down for 2 months trying to get money to fix the rear end...then rear brakes siezed up so i had to get new calipers, I got a nail in my tire a few days ago, and now this. gaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh.</rant>

I hit something the other night coming home from work. Shock the whole car but I have no idea what the hell I hit.

Did you damage the oil pan?

As far as the rear...I find it funny you say "for no reason" and your sig has you lined up at the track. No reason at the moment the gears went out but come on man...you have to pay to play.

on a 100 shot also...
"OMG something broke...damn POS" :rlaugh:

lol. The rearend broke a whole week after the first and ONLY time its ever been on nitrous/drag radials. It was for 5 passes and the slicks didnt even make a difference with the stock auto torque converter doing 2.0 60's - which is nowhere near rough enough to bust a rear. What broke in my rear was the spider gears, which is *not* what fails due to drag racing abuse. Axles are almost always the first thing to go.. it was a bizzare breakage and I think is due to the fact that one side of my rear brakes were seized up causing the differential to constantly be in a 'twist' with one side trying to stop.

Anyway. Back to the point.. I was going 20-25 when I hit it. I crawled underneath it just now and I can see the red dust where the brick hit and it was exactly where i thought- it hit the corner of the brace, then the arm of the brace, then the bottom of the floorpan..it doesnt seem to have ever made contact with anything important.

I started it up and idled/revd a bit, it started to buzz right when I cranked it but after that it all sounds normal.

This car is just f'ckin with me. :bang: Gonna check the PS fluid level and see if thats the problem, looked a little low but its sat all night.

Spider gears/side gears fail all the time from launches at the track.

Did you make sure that you did not push your oil pan up into the crank? That buzz noise could have been the counterweights clipping the pan.
