Since the beginning of the modding stage, I had 2 goals:
1) Run 12's on motor/street trim
2) Run 11's whatever way
I ran 12's everytime I hit the track last summer with the new combo. But had my share of problems. This happened at different times:
*clutch unadjustable
*fuel gauge giving me bad readings so I was screwing with the false pressure all the time
*differential rebuild ---> one wheel peel
*rocker arm got loose and pushrod cracked the vc
Everytime I was trying the nitrous ( 2 different days) nothing was happening. Finally discovered last week that it was bad fuel safety pressure switch that was causing it not to work. Since last year, I went from stock setup 70mm tb and air filter in engine bay to a Holley 75mm and "true" cai into the fender. Got a new Walbro 255lph fuel pump, driveshaft loop, 31 spline axles and carrier.
On Saturday, it is Mustang Day at the local track (crappy). This might be the last time I go to the track cause the stang is for sale and who knows when I'll sell it. I'm going with my 15x10 Prostars with ET Drags, and my skinnies. I've never tried slicks before. I was very confortable with the Dr's. Was getting 1.7's all day long and a best of 1.66 60ft with the 275's. Now I'm not sure how I'll do with the slicks.
I will run on motor first to see what I run. Have no clue how this is gonna turn out..Might even run 13's now, or maybe mid 12's with the new parts..Who knows ? But since the nitrous kit is working, I'm sure gonna use it. I'll start with the 100shot to see where it puts me. Not affraid to go 125 either. 150shot is still in my mind and is a possibility.
Why do we have to retard timing, regap plugs, run colder plugs for nitrous ? This is a good power loss right there. I usually run naturally aspirated with the timing very agressive, autolite 24's plugged at .052. Now for the juice, I have the timing backed up a few degrees from STOCK timing not my agressive timing, autolite 23's gapped at .035. You can definately see the loss of power. Could I still be running my autolite 24's , but gapped at .035 with STOCK timing ? I'm sure I'd be fine.
I wanna drop the clutch on slicks at around 4500-5000rpm on the juice and see what happens
If everything works out, I should be seeing my first 11 second timeslip
If not, it will be the unexperience of the driver with the slicks that failed, not the car.
Sorry for the long post folks...Just very anxious..
