While I wanted the GT for a long time, I think I'm going to get a 2006 V6 Mustang. While it may not be as thrilling, I think it fits my needs best.
For these reasons:
1) Better gas mileage, thus lower gas costs.
2) Lower insurance.
3) I drive about 62 miles a day round trip for work.
4) It's cheaper and I really don't want to pay $29,000 for a car.
5) I can mod the v6 and make it faster if I want to.
6) I'm not a racer, nor have I ever been. I won't take it to the race track, thus I have no need for all that power except to floor it once in a while on the freeway and even then I'm only talking about 100-120 mph but I don't want to do that that often due to cops patrolling the streets. Plus the v6 can do that speed anyway.
7) Overall, I felt more comfortable in the v6. The GT felt a lot stiffer and seemed a little too much power than what I would care for, like or even need.
8) The GT is way overpriced now due to demand.
9) I don't really want to be on a long waiting list.
10) While I like fast cars, I'm not really "big" into them and the v6 would be that great cruiser car that can go fast. It's that happy mix of cool car with some speed.
So, while it would be cool to have the GT, it just seems like overkill when I look at my needs and what I would be doing with it. The v6 just seems to make more sense. Besides, it would allow me to have more money overall ($6000!!!) for other things like mods.
I would like to thank everyone for their imput over the last few months while helping me to decide.
