I'd like to paint my chrome ponies black... but just for the weekend.

Gotta local car cruise coming up soon, won't have the time or money to paint it, so I was thinking of a "road warrior" look. I'd like to temporarily paint the ponies black, since right now they'd look like diamonds on a turd.

Water based paint? Anyone ever done this? If it goes on like crap, all the better, within reason, as long as it washes off with no sign it was ever there.

That sounds like a really good way to ruin a set of rims. Just park next to an uglier car and it will make your car look better. Its the same logic girls use, thats why they have at least one or two ugly friends

Spray it on, then peel it off when done.

Just paint them flat black with no prep. The paint will fall off on the way home from the show.

I actually use brake clean instead of wax, works mint

I think the plasti-dip thing is a pretty cool idea especially for Ponys since they don't have any tight recesses that may be hard to peal out of. I'd be interested in knowing how long that stuff holds up.

Really jeff? I thought I was the only one! Then I use brake fluid for those real tough spots.

Brake fluid is good if you want to get the water spots out, but i really like the fumes that go with the brake clean. Its like a bonus really.
