If you have 5 speed + remote start...

Really? I don't think so.

And it's plenty worth it. I have the Clifford system on my car, and the shop had no issues installing it. It requires a 3rd PATS key, and there is no bypass of the clutch safety switch.

Clifford has a shutdown procedure before you exit the vehicle to ensure you won't leave it in gear.

I love mine. Oh, and a shop that knows their product, and trusts their installers will install the Clifford system. It is designed.....DESIGNED for use on 5-6 sp manual cars. End of story.

exactly. on my old car i had the same alarm, or similiar. its called a "safety mode" or some BS like that. basically you just have to press a series of buttons on the transmitter while the car is on (and car in neutral obviously w/ the e-brake on) ... the you actually hear the relays click, then you know its safe to take the key out.

after that you just press the lock button/arm alarm button on the transmitter and thats it.

I know you made a thread about your Clifford system before but I can't find it anymore :( Searching for threads created by Spreadman only brought up like 10 threads, none of them the system...

So could you tell us again what system you have and how much it cost + install? (If you don't mind... lol I know you've posted it before)
Clifford IntelliGuard 8000
Clifford SmartWindows 4
Clifford RemoteStart

I bought it slightly used from a friend, and his shop installed it. I can't remember the gory details, but it wasn't cheap. I want to say the labor was $300 or something like that, it's pretty involved. I'll try to find the vids I have of me putting the car in safe mode.

Video 1
This one shows the ability to start and turn off the car with remote start.

Video 2
remote start, disarm alarm, roll down windows....arm alarm (which roll up the windows) and then stop the motor.

Video 3
Just wanted to show the system in action....mp3 player, head, EQ and voltmeter.

Video 4
The car is started, I push a button and the car goes into remote/start mode. I remove the key and exit the vehicle....arm the alarm....and it shuts the windows and shuts the car down.

Video 5
One last one with a closeup of the dirty tailpipe....testing the volume limiter of the camera.

It's done with a Canon S100 I think. $299 camera. Not too bad. :D

Ouch... I bet most of that labor is that alarm though :) Thanks for the info again, I'm gonna keep looking into the remote starter.

and I always love those vids

I have a Clifford installed...and I highly recommend it.

Features not mentioned:
Able to turn on headlights when windshield wipers go on.
Turns on headlights when it gets dark.
Able to run remove key from car and keep it running while I run into store.

The list of features is long and I am very happy!

there's also a lot of diode isolating on the 99+ mustangs. so if you dont know a thing about that i suggest you find a friend that can install.

Thats if your installing full security system. Door trigger and doom light switch needed to be diode isorated if I remenber right. Because doom light stay on after you shut door, and if you lock it from remote(arm the car), it'll send error code out because unit thinks door is still open, because doom light is still on for about 10 sec after you closed the door. even tho it isn't. So basicaly door trigger will be disabled. Remote start it self isn't that hard to install. you'll need basicaly 8 wires to interuapt. on Ford(most anyway) you'll need to find 12V+, Acc, Ignition1 and ignition2, starter, brake, ground, and parking lights. Most(except brake wire, and parking light wire) can be found behind ignition, as well as mounting PATS anttena.

its been a while since I did new 99+ mustang. So I don't remenber exactly how it went...

Did you install it yourself? Difficulty? Did you need another PATS key?

Model of remote start? Cost? I ONLY want a remote start, I don't need an alarm. Plus the cost savings is worth it (I honestly do NOT need an alarm).

Would you do it again? How were the safety features install? Like how does it know if the parking brake is engaged, or if you're not in gear?

I think I really want a remote starter now but the past threads I've read here made it seem like a major PITA...

Is it really worth it? Lazy Americans, I tell ya... anything for convenience.

No. N/A. Yes, bought 2 on ebay for $20 and programmed them myself.

Viper 791XV. $200.01 to the door. Worth the alarm features.

Yes. Awaiting a shaft install that will interrupt if in gear.

They are not a pain, just when your key module is right above the clutch and it hangs down. Sucky install, wires are showing.
