Alot of people are worried about mods and thier warranties... i have been asked about them a few times....here is a private message i sent one of our members

As far as warranties go...nothing can void your warranty...its a crock of crap...but...it an after market product caused the problem/brake then its not covered....

example: transmission breaks...and u have a k&n filter installed..it would be illegal for them to not cover this....(mod had nothing to do with the tranny)

however...if something breaks that relates to the product...i promise you, they will blam it on that product..

so if you have a shifter installed and the water pump goes out....no prob....

but if you have a shifter and your flywheel brakes simply replace the stock shifter b4 taking it in...yeah it didnt cause the problem...but its not worth the fight ;) (its associated with the drivetrain..and ford will probably try to blame the aftermartket shifter)

if you want to read about the warenty law check these out

K&N give a brief discription of the law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act)

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

ok this is what i was told straight from ford in a SVT training class that had very little too do with SVT cars and a whole lot too do with warranty.

if you add ANYTHING that increases horsepower or improves traction. then they can void the warranty. and if they want they have WAY more lawyers and experts than you can afford.

example. you add a K+N filter and the tranny blows up. they can try and say the extra few horsepower caused the parts failure.

also any proof of competition driving and it's all over for your warranty.

real life example.

a lighting owner posted on a site similar too this with his vin number and all his info and posted a link too a web site with videos of him racing..

then he blew his motor and the dealer refused repair due too mods. the lighting owner tries too fight the bouncing of his claim. and then ford finds the website and beats him in court in the process they voided his warranty and extended warranty on his 1700 mile 3 month old lightning.

do not try and get into a legal pissing match with ford. 9 times out of ten they will give in because they want you too buy another ford. but they can get way more experts in court and way more legal help then you can afford.

the best way too get a modded car fixed is make friends with some ford mechanic or service manager.

second best way is be a good customer and spend money in the service department.. this may sound wrong but customers that come in only for warranty work get no help from us.

i help out as much as i can but i can't do warranty work on mustangs all day. i have too eat too. and ford warranty does not pay well.

if you have been declined for warranty repair i would call the ford hotline, act normal and you can get a second opinion from the regional rep.
