Call good performance or mechanic shops you know of and ask them who'd they have rebuild a trans, that's what I did. Having a GF who's dad owns a car shop and knows all the places in a 50 miles radius helps too. But rebuilding the trans is not something you want a shop who does anything other than just transmissions to perform.
