It was pretty easy. I read over Helty's thread on installation but it was pretty straight forward without a real need for instructions. The only thing I had to play with was the throttle and cruise cables to figure out how to get them off. After that it was easy. It took me about 2 hours to do which included the 30 minute trip to Ford to buy a new throttle position sensor (TPS) so I didn't have to mess with the old one.

Intially I did notice the throttle response was smoother and quicker. The butt dyno hasn't really told me anything yet. I plan to get it dyno tuned though to see where I'm at with A/F and HP/TQ numbers. I'll keep everyone posted even though these threads are dime a dozen now.

I'll get pics later also.

I've had a chance to put some miles on it. So far the butt dyno does feel something. I can notice a little top end and it really picks up about 3500 RPM and above.

Also, I'm not sure if it's the plenum or not but I definitely have a louder idle exhaust note. I put half of my fenderwell CAI on so that may help too. All I did was replace the accordian tube with the straight tube after the MAF.

I did change the plenum. Accufab plenum w/ 70MM TB. Comparative results say there isn't much difference with 70 and 75 MM TB's so I went with the 70 just because.

I have also had to start using 89 instead of 87 octane fuels. It feels more sluggish with the 87 than with the 89. My Dad said the same thing before I installed the plenum so I can't say it's because of the plenum.

I drove to Florida in the last couple of days and put over 1800 miles on the plenum and I must say that you can feel a kick in the butt after the 3k RPM mark. You can actually feel a little bit of a kick at about 3/4 throttle around 3k RPM's.

I like it. The CAI pipe I have between the plenum and MAF definitely gets hot as well. It's almost too hot to touch, but it looks awesome so I won't trade it out :)

what you meant to say was, "without helty's awesome how-to thread, I never could have done this by myself" :p

jk man, glad you got it one there easy. :nice: All I really noticed was a bit better top end pull, nothing that made me say "OMFGBBQSAUCENOPANTZ!"

nice job man, i just installed the same thing but with a 75mm TB and also a JLT RAI. i had the same little slow down with the throttle and cruise cables...got a little confused, but it all worked out. i posted a pic of it in helty's thread... post some pics of yours once you get the CAI on there :nice:

I had problems with the cruise control cables because I wasn't quite sure how it came off. Throttle was easy to figure out though.

I haven't had any idle problems. It seems like the exhaust note is a little bit louder and the car starts easier than it did before. Sometimes I would have to crank it 2 times and give it gas before it would crank.

helty's thread made me say OMFGBBQSAUCENOPANTZ!!!!

Beause you need to let your ECU re-calibrate itself to new settings i.e. air fuel mixure.
Otherwise your air fuel ratio's will be screwed up and your car will most likely run like poo! this is one reason why people have problems with this simple install.

Just make sure you disconnect battery to re-set ECU
and
when you start "DO NOT" touch gas pedel let it run till fan comes on then turn off car
and
re-start
and your go to go :nice:
Let me try this again... why? I never heard that part. I thought just disconnecting the battery for over 30 mins will do it.

However, if you don't reset the ECU, it will still eventually learn. It may take longer though.

Get rid of that chrome pipe that heat soak is not good for motor temps. Go with a a plastic K&N setup or JLT. or just put the stock one back on and hook up a k&n to the end of it.

so just adding a k&n a.f will give me a little gain in hp?

i dont understand why everyone has problems with the idle:shrug: i installed mine with no problems whatsoever. no testing voltage, no setting idle, no "letting the fan turn on w/o touching the gas". just disconnect the battery during the install and you'll be golden. only trouble i had was getting the TPS off. but i got it eventually, with the help of another person to use as leverage.

When I installed my TB/Plenum combo i did check the TPS for voltage. Mine was reading at .84 volts. I adjusted it to .98 volts. I'm not sure how the idle would have been if I didn't adjust the volts. My car idles very smoothly. Pearl02.
