I dropped my 69 fastback to have a 408 stroker put in it next week. The work is being performed by Professional Engine in Mobile Alabama. It is estimated to produce near 500 hp / 500 torque. Will know real #'s when it comes off the dyno. Has anyone driven a 69 with a 408 stroker? What should i expect?

I can't wait!

Heh...one of the better stories I've ever heard was when a guy put a similar 408 in his 69FB with a TKO600 5spd and a 2:79 open 8". He'd decided to swap in his Track-Lok 3.50 9" ASAP but hadn't got around to it before they swapped the engine and trans.

He was driving it home from work on the highway about 70mph (and 1800rpm) in 5th, drops it into 3rd and gets on it to pass another car and the back tires break loose and start smoking as the car hooks sideways. Luckily he shifted to 4th and let off right then. He said he didn't even hit the gas hard at all  He likes it a lot more with the 9" in it. :D

So yeah, dat's a lotta power!

Nothing is easy - still working on the install. I upgraded to Brodix track 1 heads and then added 1 7/8" hooker long tube headers. Motor is in the car and headers do not clear the floor pans. Ends up that the Bodix heads are taller than stock heads raising the headers when they were mounted. Some modifications are underway and I expect to have the install complete by Friday.

To the guy with the great 70 mph story - I have removed my open 3:00 rear and replaced it with 3:55 locker. Stock c4 was trashed and upgraded to street fighter c4 with welded drum, redline clutches, kevlar bands and a 2800 stall converter.

Just a few more days and once again - I can't wait!
