Installing quarter windows in a '84

So, I'm getting ready to install the quarter window glass in the '84 and have questions.

1. Use urethane or the old style rope?
2. There's three "slots" in the lower frame, should I plug those up with sealer or are they supposed to drain? I don't like the idea of water draining into the quarters, but don't want water sitting in the seam either. How did Ford do it? These windows were put in with silicone (don't know who or why) when I got the car so I don't know the correct way to do it.

I’m not sure about the 84’s, but I think all fox quarters are bolted in and use butyl tape. You can buy it from LMR and do both sides. Don’t use urethane, no need to.

But like I said, I’d have to do research on the 84’s, and those aren’t drains.

I love LMR, but the butyl rubber kit they sell is overpriced It's over $30. Get the 3M 1/4" 15' roll on Amazon for less than $15.
