Intake and Heads Question

If you cared to read what I have said regarding that, I have said that I have seen that from 3 - 4 people at MD who said they heard that directly from you. If that is not the case, I wouldn't mention your company's name and say that. You are making a stink about it here, you might want to fix the problem over there as I suggested, I am not the only one who is passing this apparantly wrong info. If that is the issue you have it is a dead issue.

MM&FF is a huge waste of space. I have seen very little accurate info come out of there and don't really care what they have to say.

well its nice that VT has stopped in, however aside from defending himself (which he is entitled to do) and correcting a posted for wrong cams that were never in the running anyhow, its become a pising match... so to actually answer some of your questions.

MMR is a great shop, they are not the best and that is why they are not on anyone top pick.. VT has a long standing rep for being badass... so far, i have yet to hear otherwise.. however they have a backlog a mile long (because they are so good) and thus people choose to go with other companies, MMR for example. MMR has not done anything shady or irreputable that i have noticed (doesnt mean it hasnt happened) and are cheaper the VT with no wait time/alot less wait time. this however does have a few exceptions...

1 - vt build with top quality parts on all engines, MMR does not.. MMR does have upgrade options to meet the same criteria of VT engines and beyond (this can be misleading as MMR has a different way of rating engines/upgrades)

2 - MMR is not as well known... some how VT got in with a few known people.. did good work, and exploded. MMR is arguably as good, they just never got the rep/customer base/recognition that VT has.

bottom line, you cant go wrong with either VT or MMR. MMR is only slightly cheaper (once you get ALL the same parts). it comes down to preference and time. do you have time to burn? dont need it immediatly? want a company that has a rather insane backing of just about every body on the boards? go VT... want a good setup quicker and with a lil more money in the wallet then do MMR.

as far as your thoughts on the loss of power. you are comparing apples to oranges. when looking at blower vs NA the setups are vastly different and thus need a different midset. going longtubes will NOT lose you power, period. its all a balancing act from restriction vs backpressure vs scavenging.... our local VT poster might be willing to give a little bit of insight on this as i dont know the finite details about this area to give a solid backing of why it works the way it does.

for your choices in parts, worry not.. the ported bullitt, heads, and cams will not loser power when adding longtubes.

OK VT dude. if i agree you make better n/a cams than the next guy, and i agree you make specific cams with more area under the curve, etc, etc, etc.

when are you going to join the 3v crowd? i've done some sims of comp cams with mt current combo, but i know they left a bunch on the table, as they are watching PTV with their biggest cam. their advance is 15 degrees. i don't use VCT and i need higher lift/more agressive lobes. i don't necessarily need longer duration, but higher lift for sure. what is your position on the matter.

5.4 3v cams to exceed 425 fwhp? CC and BBR have useful cams, but i know better can be done.

fox lake is not a popular choice on the boards. i think its because they are very expensive. i like vt and mph as i was considering them for my heads/cams combo and i will have one of them build an engine for me. i need alot of questions answered about that before i can make a decision.

anyway i will go back to fox for the p-51 intake. most of all i am extreamly happy with the power my fox heads and cams made. first my combo was not picked for the most power na. i am building for a blower. so i had to go with blower cams. that alone killed my power. on top of that i only got a custom stage 1 cam because of emissions and didnt want people to know what i had. you can hardly tell i have cams.

look at my numbers with all that against the fox set up. im making not much less then guys with stage 2 na cams. i picked up a total of 35 peak rwhp with the setup. brings me to the conclusion that fox does awsome port work, cause the cams were set up for the future. i know i gained some from the cams but i think a good amount came from the heads.
