Hi, with a 347, twisted wedge heads, ?cam, some people said I should go with a Trick flow type R manifold, but looking at the specs I am kinda having second thoughts

* Large cross-section 12.000 in. runners
* 2,500-7,250 rpm range with 75mm upper
* 3,000-7,750 rpm range with 90mm upper
* 75mm or 90mm throttle body inlet
* 2.000 in. x 1.200 in. port size at cylinder head
* 11.000 in. overall height to the flange

above is the specs for the type r manifold.. doesn't that seem like a bit much for a mostly street maybe some light track car...

Seems like people are falling for the good old bigger is better thoughts.... starting to look at something more practical..

Here is the track heat specs:

* Small cross-section 12.200 in. runners
* 1,500-6,500 rpm range
* 75mm throttle body inlet
* 2.000 in. x 1.200 in. port size at cylinder head
* 10.200 in. overall height to the flange

and the street intake specs:

* Small cross-section 15.000 in. runners
* Idle-5,500 rpm range
* 75mm throttle body inlet
* 2.000 in. x 1.200 in. port size at cylinder head
* 10.200 in. overall height to the flange

So with the track heat intake will it always rev at 1500 rpm, and with the type r will it always rev at 2500 rpm?? I think 1500 seems acceptable...

and sorry but one last thing... camshaft choice.. assuming that I would be sticking with trick flow... when it comes to camshaft choice I know it would depend on heads, the fact that its on a 347, and depending on intake manifold choice, but I would like it to be streetable, but I like the lumpy more aggressive sound, a bit more than mild.. guys I have asked some of these questions before and usually get just go for the track heat and the r series intake... need some more pro's con's to the choices.. sorry just alot of money to spend and end up getting the wrong thing... especially for almost 3000 dollars..

i would use the track heat intake with a 347. The R-series is way too much for a street driven 347 with regular TFS heads and mild street cam. good luck man.

would the r series always idle at 2500 rpm, seems like a little much to me too, emissions wise, would the track heat heads, and track heat manifold be too much.

price per horse power, the 347 stroker kit is a done deal, but talking about the top end, I think I have read that new heads are a good bang for the buck when it comes to what your paying for hp. Do you think the gt40 intake would be a good option price wise, compared to trick flow. cams seem relatively inexpensive so I'm not worried about that, just think of the intake.. machined stock heads vs new heads... think the new heads are a must.. any thoughts?

Use the R manifold. save the track heat for the 302 it belongs on. I use the R on my 11:1 347. Those powerband numbers are just general numbers. I run twisted wedge heads with some minor work, R manifold, FTI custom cam. It runs good

If you are planning on spinning it 6400 RPM +, then go with the TFS-R.

Other than that, look at something else, like the Holley

Ok, so with the 347 kit I bought, I'm sure I can purchase the full top end kit from trickflow but just have them substitute to the r manifold if I want. Just wondering about the cam now, is the cam that comes with the track heat kit ok? I'll get the specs and will post them..

If you buy the TFS-R intake, you really need to get a custom camshaft, or you are going to have a poor performing engine, due to the mismatch.

Good Luck.

Go with a custom cam or an AFM cam regardless. Don't use that cam in a 347, its a mild 302 cam. PM me if you have more questions. I pretty much have what youre planning so I can easily help.

Thanks guys, GRN 92LX do you happen to have the part number for the afm cam, just so I can compare the specs. Would be really appreciated, and thanks guys, I just really want to have a solid plan, before ordering parts, so with the afm performance cam, r series intake, and track heat t. wedge tfs heads, on the 347. I think I am going to buy a complete fuel kit from summit. Includes tank, lines, fuel rails, regulator pump and everthing neccessary to upgrade system says it supports 400-1000hp n/a, so assuming I pick a good cam, to match the heads and intake, and upgrade the fuel system. What size injectors and mass air meter do you guys think would be good for this application. 30lbs or 36lbs, 75mm mass air.. should the throttle body size match the mass air meter. I am converting the engine to mass air during the build.. going to have the wiring and everything in place. Already have a cold air intake, and had to make an extra piece for where the mass air meter was supposed to go, and I have a new fan controller with mark 8 fan, and new alt. just need to upgrade the rad to a 3 row, and I am selling my t5 and buying a tremec from ebay. oh and are 4.10s too much for this app.

got the engine out of the car sitting on the ground in the garage, starting to take it apart, and the 347 kit should be arriving any day now..

You do not need a full fuel system. You only need a good pump and injectors with matching mass air. 30-36# injectors, 80mm maf, 75mm tb.

For an afm cam, I do not know enough about your goals to give you a recommendation. If I had to guess, I would suggest the N-71.

Your 4.10's are fine. I'm running 4.30's.

How fast are you wanting to go?

Dude if you follow my recommendations you will make a hell of a lot more than 300rwhp. 300rwhp is mild 302 numbers, youre building a 347! PM me for more help. Do you have a tuning device to bypass the rev limiter?

I'd consider the RPM II intake.
If you want the most out of the 347, the cnc'ed wedges are the way to go.
Custom cam, without a doubt.
