Just stopped at the dealership again to make sure that my car was still on schedule to be built next week and my salesman said that he didnt have an invoice for the car yet but expected to have on in the next 5-7 days and then my car should arrive about 7 days after that.Does that sound right? I have been doing ok when talking to the salesman, thanks to everything I have learned here, but this one has me confused. My salesman was in a weird mood today(I think he is getting tired of seeing me,lol) so I figured I would just ask here.

Also,as I was driving there the dealership across the street had a Silver GT sitting there so I asked my salesman about it and he said that some guy bought it and then brought it back saying that there were scratches on the decklid(which according to my salesman there werent) and that the motor made a really loud rumbling(sp?) noise. So if anyone wants a used Silver GT with a big markup I know where you can find one.

It all depends on where you live and many other factors such as rail car availablility, etc. Mine was built on 4/13 and wasn't shipped until 5/3 with an ETA of 5/10. So, I have basically had to wait a month for mine to ship after building. This is a little extreme though. Most people that had their cars built on the week of 4/25 are getting their cars now, so that fits into what the dealer is telling you. There are too many variables to tell you for certain when your car will be there, but hopefully sooner than later :nice: . By the way, why are you ordering a V6, does your dealer not have a lot on the lot already? Or was it b/c you wanted certain options their's didn't have?

I live about 2-3 hours away from the plant. They are actually sold out at my dealership and at every dealership around here, mine was the last order to go through for an '05.I checked inventory online every week for the dealerships close by but no one ever had the car that I wanted so I just ordered one.It has been hard waiting, especially with the weather getting so nice now,but at least I will get the car exactly how I wanted it.I keep telling myself that good things come to those who wait. :)

Oh, I didn't know you were close to the plant, thats cool. The only reason I asked was b/c around my area we the dealerships all have like 20 V6s so it is pretty easy to find one with the color/options you want.

ok,here is another thing that is bugging me--if my car is suppose to be built this week, shouldnt i have a VIN by now? when i talked to my salesman a few weeks ago and he told me that my car was scheduled to be built may 9th,i asked him when i would get my VIN and he said on may 9th.well it's may 9th and no VIN! he was suppose to call me today and so far i havent heard from him.i dont mind waiting for my car(ok,maybe a little, lol) but dont jerk me around! dont tell me may 9th if it's not gonna be may 9th! grrrrrr!

ok,i'm done now :)

so,when should i get my VIN?

Jennifer, based on my experience you should have a VIN when you are serialized and locked in for production. If they have set a date to build the car then it should have a VIN. They pull a report at most dealers that shows a list of the cars they have on order and it will have your status and VIN on it.

Have you been calling the 800 number aka Evil Robot Lady???? If you have your dealer number and your model type number and your order number you can easily check the status on the car in terms of whether it is going to be built soon and if so what week. You cannot get your VIN from the 800 number recorded message. We are really not supposed to use the 800 number so if you get sent to an agent some will refuse to tell you anything but some are nice and will tell you all about your car.

Can't say for sure but it sounds fishy..... Wonder why they are not finding your car on a lot somewhere and doing a transfer with so many V6's out there on lots??????

Good Luck!!

Where about in Michigan do you live? Im from Troy, and although I have never taken a trip out to see the plant, im assuming its about an hour maybe a little farther than that. I thought it would be a plus to live near the plant, and possibly having a better shot at getting one off of a lot... It wasnt the case. There are way more out of state. Not to mention the hundreds sitting on the lot at work awaiting the Roush upgrades.
