Is it worth buying a 5-speed conversion kit. I currently have a Automatic. I can drive a 5-speed really good, however i am talking more because of the power you would get back! Is there anything i can get for the automatic to get it back up with the 5-speed as far as horsepower.

A different stall, a shift kit (or jerry mod) and new gears will completely change the way the auto drives. You could even get a manual valve body if you wanted.
Youll always have the additional drivetrain loss as far I know though.

I'm saving to switch to a TKO.

I have both a 02 5 speed and a 01 auto and I like the auto better.. even though my auto will dyno less when a 5 speed I can still beat most 5 speeds in a race because ill get perfect runs everytime..

I did the swap on a 2k in my garage.

If you do the swap yourself (with friends) it may be worth it. It was a days work. It would cost an arm and a leg to have it done by someone else.

Don't forget that on a 99+ you need to chip or replace the computer.

Autos can be made just as fast as manuals with a little work. They are also a lot easier to drive consistently, and after you start to get into the 10's-9's I'd say, you better be damn good shifting to run better on a regular basis.

Agreed. If it's just the power loss that sparks the question then yes .... mod the tranny and enjoy the auto transmission in rush hour traffic.

IMHO, I can understand a 5spd conversion kit for older cars ... or hobby/track specific cars but not a daily driver less than 3 years old. Otherwise trade up.

Yeah, it depends on what you are asking the car to do. Is it a drag racer or a bad as_ street cruiser with an occasional race? Auto/drag and 5-speed/all around fun IMO. Like some one said earlier, Ive beaten many manuals just by having an auto(similar mods of course) and I like it for racing. 5-speeds are bad as_ too, if u can drive it well, but with shift points raised, rev limit extended, quicker shifts, my auto is way better than stock...The 4:10's dont hurt either!

Call it what u want for whomever, but a 700 hrpwr cobra/6-speed cant beat a 700 hrpwr cobra/auto (exact mods except trans) and Ill bet my car/house/dogs and my wifes car on that. No matter how fast u can shift, theres no way a human can shift faster than a pro built automatic, no way!
