i was leaving my gfs house and in a rush...so i hopped into my car , fired it up and left. about 1/2 way home she calls me and says i left my keys at her house. then i realized i started my car without the key!!! does this happen to any1 else...and if so what is wrong with my car? what do i need to fix this? i know this is a little talk, but i would like some good answers on how to fix this

The lock on the ignition switch is broken, time for a new ingintion switch.

Curse is correct. I think he actually means that it is time for a new ignition lock cylinder (the ignition switch is an electrical connection).

they are cheap and you can have a locksmith key your new cylinder to your old keys.

where can i get a new ignition lock cylinder? 50 resto?

My 2.3 does this also. I found you can gently pull out on the cylinder and push it back in, and it won't turn again without the key. But after you take the key out, you have to do it again.. A little insurance until you get your new cylinder.

While you are changing the lock cylinder, change the switch too...

There is a FREE recall on Ford ignition switches. They overheat and sometimes catch fire.

Copy down you VIN number and call the Ford dealer nearest you. Tell them you want to see if the ignition switch recall for Fords & Mustangs was done on your car. They will ask for the VIN number & check it against the master database. If it isn't in the datbase, then you can schedule an appointment to have the switch replaced for free. The TSB is #95S28, and don't let them tell you that they don't do that anymore...
