i would think so , not a lot of guys run 1/8th mile and w/ stock gears your gonna be in a bad spot..prob about 3 grand in 3rd? through the traps?

the stock tach sux but try to start your shift at about 5200 and you'll finish it by 5500

what kind of 60' times do you have? doesn't matter much on mph...but if your hooking try to launch about 3500 and powershift all the gears.

maybe your going through in 2nd but i doubt it. anyway...unless your already driving the car to it's full potential...you should be able to get 80..if not try the bottle

My friend ran 82 MPH in the 1/8 with his bolton 87 GT. Stock intake, tb, 3.08 gears, stock cam. Car was STRONG for what it was and he drove it as hard as he could. MPH is an indicator of power, if you bog, forget it, it's gonna suck, if the car is heavy, it's gonna suck, if you dont shift fast, it's gonna suck. You might wanna try to shift around 5000-5200, they dont make any power past that anyway.

I ran almost 81 MPH in my 88 GT that had all the boltons and a Explorer Intake and Crane 1.7 rockers on MPH killing ET Streets in August. It was HOT and HUMID, with some more practice runs, I could have ran a bit more than that in good weather.

Powershift it, id be willing to bet you get close to 80 mph. Practice this and get good and it might have it! If ot, time for gears!

2.73's will hurt you bad, 3.08's, even though it isnt that much of a change would actually run alot better. 2.73's put you through the traps at some weird RPM's.

Yep, Im not a fan of putting alot of gear in a stock cam and intaked Mustang and think 3.08's or 3.27's work good all around and still work decent on the street from a roll, the 2.73's just suck. They make everything odd. Just like your results, second gear through the traps, bleh. 2.73's suck!

My Powerdyne car had 2.73's, it was a major pig down low, from a roll on the highway, it moved good even for the low power it had.

i disagree on that one...i think gears and heads are two best gains other than nitrous that money can buy

my stock motor (comletely stock H/C/I) notch ran 13.20's at 102 w/ 4.10's
all stock everything , just 4.10's and tires it went 13.80's or 13.60's

added the lca's and 75 shot and it went 12.50's....still stock long block

Well of course heads make a huge difference, heads and cam make all the power. Gear wise, I dunno, my friend showed that you can use 3.08's in his car, it ran 8.42 in the 1/8 in his 87 GT with stock heads, cam, intake, tb and fan with 3.08's. Stock 200000 mile long block. He used to bury other mildly modded Mustangs on the street because all they would do is shift, fall back, shift fall back. 5000 RPM 302 dosent need alot of gear unless you are trying to launch HARD on some good tires.
