Is kendall full synthetic oil okay for my 96?

I recently changed over to full synthetic oil. It just so happens to be the kendall full synthetic infused with titanium. I'd read that a couple of people with stock F150s switched over and really liked it. I thought it was good oil but a Pennzoil tech I talked to said it was complete garbage. Has anybody had any experience using this oil in their mustang?

Also, I always use a quart of Lucas oil additive as a replacement for 1 quart of oil, is this still ok to do or do I not need to use it having full synthetic? If nobody recommends kendall, then what full synthetic oil do u recommend for the car? Lastly, is it really true that if I use full synthetic oil I'll be unable to switch back to a regular grade oil? Thanks for any help!

You don't need to waste your money on synthetic engine oil. If you change your oil/filter every 3K miles, you'll be fine with conventional. I usually just buy and run the motorcraft oil and filter from wal-mart because it's cheap. 140K miles and still running strong!

Pennzoil tech? Who is that? An engineer that works for Pennzoil or a guy that works in a quick lube joint? Cause I wouldn't run their oil (garbage) that's for sure.

That being said I run regular Valvoline in my 91, and Valvoline synthetic in my Cobra. I really can't tell a difference to be honest.

A tech as in a guy in a lube joint. I'm really just wanting good oil and as long of engine life as possible. I always heard you could run full synthetic for like 6 or 9 k before changing. That was wrong.. apparently its still just 3k per interval. Will it harm my motor to switch back over to regular oil next change time?

The synthetic oil last longer then conventional because it wont break down. The filter is what always needs to be changed regularly.

Yeah, I figured. I seen a small difference in just changing the oil, no in your face gain but just a little easier to run up to 6k and a little smoother. I guess ill stick with synthetic but prolly switch to castrol full synthetic. Anyone have any advice if I can still run lucus in with synthetic or not?

I don't know of any actual benefits to running the lucas additive. Almost any oil you buy will have all the additives you need. The only exception I can think of would be the older engines (think muscle car era) with slider cams that need some zinc in the oil.

Anyway, my 97GT has been getting full synthetic mobil 1 since it had around 40k miles. Sometime next week, it should tick to just over 190k miles and still runs very strong. Personally, I like synthetic because it will help your mileage, doesn't need changed as often and has been proven to have better wear characteristics than conventional, but any synthetic can do that.

Well I run lucus because I thought at one time my oil pressure was low, it would spend 90% of the needles time in between N & O on normal.. so I put that in because I was told it would help with pressure problems. When actually it was just a faulty gauge cluster. It would be nice not to spend that 11 bucks a oil change on lucus. So if kendal isn't all that great.. any thoughts on a trusted full synthetic brand? I guess in the end, if nothing else, I won't hurt anything.. other than my wallet, when paying for synthetic. Thanks a lot for all the help and schooling on oil!

Gents,

"bobistheoilguy.com" is a very good site for information about lubrication and lubricants and additives and internal engine cleaners. Plenty of good stuff there. Raging debates about synthetic, semi-syn, and conventional oils, what constitutes a synthetic oil, when to change oil, how to test oil, etc., etc.

Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

Full syn only here, CHEAP insurance!!! No mileage does not matter.................

Less leaks, no pinging and cleaner engine from syn oil. Change to full syn Valvoline at 85K miles.

Too many issues with regular oil !!

I would ping like crazy with dino oil.........................

Any guesses why less pinging with full syn ?????? LOL

Paraffin. It's like mixing plastic into your crankcase. I used to change oil when I was a teenager and we had a car with about 70K miles come in taht the owner had only run Penzoil in. We pulled the drain plug on it and nothing came out. Turns out the Paraffin had coated the drain plug and clogged the hole in the pan. We had to punch it out with a screwdriver to get it to drain. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want that in my engine.

Ya maybe in the 80's, but no longer. So get up to date. Any product CAN and WILL change if its any good..............

Also most Ford's over cool, maybe U did not now that or it take over 20 miles to heat up a engine ????

Just saying form somebody that knows stuff...............

It's been a while since that happened. Dude came off the highway, that engine was hot. They might not be putting it in their oil anymore. I don't bother though since nobody carries it locally, and I have options that I know are good anyhow.
