Just as some background on the situation, I purchased my 99 about 3 months ago with 12,900 miles on it. After searching stangnet I found that there had been a "Power" recall on the exhaust and lower intake. I call 1-800-FORD-SVT with the vin # and they say that they show that the car was fixed. Here's the problem, No dots on the intake, and no modification tag on the radiator support. Anybody got any suggestions because at this point I'm thinking

FYI - I have read about other '99 owners who did not receive the sticker/tag on the radiator support after receiving the "fix." It could have been the that the tech working on the vehicle simply forgot to affix the sticker or they were just being lazy that day.
You can also check part numbers on your own if you are still unconvinced after speaking with SVT. TXSnakeCharmer has put together a pretty information page about the '99 "recall," see below:

His main Cobra tech page:

Recall "tech" papers:

Pre-fix intake:

post-fix intake:

Although all the 99's were suppose to have had the fix according to SVT, which I'm sure they did, but some Ford mechanics were lazy and claimed they performed all the changes but did not. Also below is a typical scenario anyone buying a 99 Cobra now should consider...

1. Joe buys a 99 Cobra brand new
2. Joe has the HP recall performed which includes increasing the intakes CFM using one of two methods. Replace intake or extrude hone.
3. Joe wants more HP and buys an intake off ebay to have hand ported and finds out it's a pre-fix intake and is near impossible to do anything with. So Joe throws it in the closet and buys another post fix intake, gets it ported and installs it and makes more power.
4. Joe decides to sell the Cobra but doesnt want to sell the newly modified intake with the car, so he removes and sells it seperately. Now Joe needs an intake to put back on the car to sell it....Guess what? Yep, he installs the pre-fix intake for someone else to worry about.
5. Some poor soul buys the Cobra and wonders if the "Fix" was ever done. Takes it to the dyno and makes low power, yet SVT swears it had the fix done.
6. Guess what......there is no doubt in my mind that that has happened before to someone.

Take the car and get it dyno'd and get piece of mind.

Does anybody know what was done to the 01 cobra manifolds? Are they just acid dipped?
I have had three different 99 cobra intake manifolds. The first one was extrude honed, the second one was acid dipped, and the third one that is going on my new motor is another extrude hone.

Crawl underneath and check the stamping on your mufflers, if they're Ford. The "post-fix" muffler replacements are stamped 7509, I believe. I didn't have the sticker or manifold dot, either, but got a date when the car was taken in for "the fix". Enjoy!

I'm the same as these guys, no dot and no sticker. Mufflers had the right fix number stamped on them though fwiw. If I were you and second guessing, go get a dyno done. Not only will it pretty much solve the issue but then you'll have a 'starting point' before you start with the mods.

Thanks for the advise everybody, I have planned to put it on the dyno next weekend to get a true baseline. Anybody using the FR 500 exhaust? Let me know how you like it. I love the sound of Flows, but hate that highway drone. Also, anybody know of any Cobra clubs in South Carolina?

What dyno numbers would you get before and after the fix.I got 276hp to the rear wheels....Is that a pre or post fix number?

Sounds like a pretty healthy post-fix number. I believe 270 rwhp was the desirable number.
