is off-road x-pipe worth it?

The X pipe adds power all across the board. I mean from idle to redline. Whenever I take my x pipe off for smog (and this is before the blower also) I just cant stand how much slower and gutless my stang is even if it is just for a few days, it SUCKS!! All the people who are saying it is tinny, crappy build, losing power are all the exact same people who DONT OWN ONE!! ;)

grandted the prochamber makes the most power of any mid pipe (which is truly a mix of the 2 designs....
no, the magnaflow x pipe and dr gas x piped makes more than anyone else. after that is bassani, bbk and way down the list is the prochamber after a few others. the prochamber is somewhere in the halfway mark between x and h as far as performance goes.

from what ive read/been told the prochamber is putting down better numbers than anything are you sure your talking prochamber and not the regular MAC Hpipe??....ive also heard of fitment issues with magnaflow and, dr gas X's....

not that I want to fan the flams of people bashing me... but I would like to clarrify what I said, and meant... I never said the H made more power than X... you guys should read a little better... what I said is the H balances out the flow, so you don't have that problem... (it's better on your engine, but not more power) the reason I like the H better than X is the sound of the H, since it does balance out the flow, and you don't get over pressured pipes and such, is the H is a more classic mustang sound... I also never said the X was Tinny, I said it was more than the H... I think my comment about the 4-6 cyl thing was taken the wrong way too...

-long story short, I like the H sound better than X (just classic), X makes more power, but H is easier on the whole system (even if it is miniscule)... I will forever be an H guy... that's all...

For the mods this guy has there isn't going to be any difference between an X and H pipe. I have yet to see any dyno results that show a difference between the two on a car with less than 320rwhp. If you have dyno results, e-mail them to me.

Also on the Mustangexhaust.com website you guys keep quoting, they did and article showing the same thing.

Whether an H or X pipe sounds better cannot be argued, its all a matter of Sams66's personal opinion. Go to www.mustangexhuast.com and listen for yourself.

I dont have 320 rwhp...i may have 275-280 max. Before most of my mods i had the car dynoed with a Dr.gas, MAgnaflow, and my custom x-pipe all in one day at a shop. The magnaflow netted 234 rwhp.....the dr.das made 239 rwhp and my custom made 246.9 at the wheels. I dont have the results as they were on my old computer and that is no longer working. So I saw a good gain with x-pipe. My o/r h-pipe made 231 rwhp on that same day first.

The x-pipe balances the exhaust as good as the h-pipe ever thought of.
Sorry man...the h-pipe has been out designed by the x-pipe and similar prochamber which is a mix of the 2.

Hey Mike,

I wish you would have tested the pro-chamber just to see where it fit in, but that's a pretty good comparision. Maybe I can find someone in my area with an x-pipe and get on the dyno to compare.

ok, maybe since most of my info comes from an "Old-School" teacher (my dad...) ... when back in his day, X pipes were not connected in the middle, balancing out the exhaust flow... which to my knowledge, still aren't... if they are, then that explains why I'm getting flamed here... but yes, the difference in power, and sound is miniscule...

-bareley noticable, but I can tell a diff. in the sound... so that's why mainly I'm an H guy...

Have you ever seen an x-pipe.....why do you think they call them an X.

What does an X look like. It looks connected to me. They MERGE.....cant get much more of a connection than that now can you.

I suggest you take a GOOD look at an x-pipe.

Xs are welded together in the middle, most are not "open" between the two sides...

You have been misinformed about x-pipes Bro.

well, most that I've seen are welded, not open... hence all of my comments up to this point... oh well, I was wrong, I'll admit it...

-thnx for proving me wrong guys... all of you :D

More proof.. This one is not yet welded together and you can clearly see that when welded they are a true crossover.
