Is short belt routing different on a Cobra

I took my smog pump off today and put on the shorter belt. When i went to start the car it made some crazy screeching sound so i shut it down. I followed this diagram Belt routing94-95 SMOGPUMP ELIMINATION pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots but it says for a GT. Is there a different way to route it for a Cobra? There were also two black metal lines that were hitting the belt that I had to move out of the way. I dont know if thats the issue, just wanted to give all the details. Thanks for the help.

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't think so.
When I shout belted mine I made a diagram of the old belt routing and belt direction. Then installed the short belt and made sure everyhing was still rotating the same way.

The pulley sizes for the cobra and gt are different.

Yes it is different because the 2 lines you are hitting are the oil cooler lines. (Which are only on Cobras.)

What I did was delete the oil cooler, install a fl1a filter (same as what GT uses) and ran the same belt route a GT would.

Ok thanks. I think that is what was causing the sound. I tried to move them as far as i could but i think the belt is still rubbing the one line.

also if the pully sizes are different between the GT and Cobra the belt may be too long and the tensioner may not be able to tension the belt enough and it could be squealing
