is the stock trans suposed to say tremek

the title says it all i just changed my clutch and found a tremek casting and a tremec lable on the top so if this is normal let me know. sorry but i dont know much about transmissions.

If it's say Tremec, it's a Tremec. This is not a stock trans in Fox Body Mustangs. If you have a Tremec I woudn't be complaning since they are way better that a T-5.
It's probably either a 3550 or a TKO.

Not entirely true. Tremec now makes all the T-5's ... it is a replacement stock tranny is what I'd bet on. If you had a 3550 or a TKO you would have known about it.

it could be a tremec t-5, but wouldnt it say borg warner?

It might -- might not. All depends on when it was made or which parts were replaced, etc.

yep. as i recall, the newer V6 stangs have a tremec T5. not saying that it what it is, just that it does exist. i dont know about newer 'replacement' T5's. i cant even remember when the buyout/merger/whatever was.

I have a T-5z trans that was purchased last year that has the Tremec name cast into the housing, Like Hissin said, any replacement or newer model T-5 is now made by Tremec, you can check their web site for more info.
