Is there a way to tighten the E-brake?

The Center Cable is One piece that hooks into the handbrake and the other side is under the car where it is attached to the Equalizer Bar, there is solid metal on both ends and it is not adjustable!
That's what I discovered the first time I got under the car. Sounds like my cables are probably stretched. I have one replacement that came with the car. I should probably buy the other side and replace them.

i can try to get a pic if needed. take your center console off. lift up the e-brake handle. when you lift it up, you will see a threaded rod with a nut on it. tighten that nut to your desired liking. if your cables are streched then those will need to be replaced.

I'll take a look at it. I'll tell you how it comes out. Thanks.

Maybe I need a pic of it because I'm not finding it on my '88 anywhere.

Im wondering if I have the same problem...

Brakes work good, but I have to pull the handle up so high that it almost points straight up.

Ill check the drums tomorrow i guess.

Mine sucked with stock brakes too, it never wanted to hold even on a minor incline, after the 4 wheel disc conversion and the handbrake mods to make it adjustable, it holds great!

well, i just replaced the brakes, adjusted the adjuster on the bottom of the brake assembly, and did this procedure:
1. pull e-brake up 3 clicks
2. put in reverse
3. back up and hit the brakes
4. e- brake down
5. drive forward
6. test e-brake, if not good, repeat.
