is there some kind of recall on the plastic intakes for 99gt

i dont belive their is a recall past the 97 intakes even though the ones all the way through 01 still cracked around the thermostat housing. Even if you have to replace it yourself its not going to cost anywhere near $350 unless maybe your talking about having them install it. The install is very easy though and you can do it yourself in about 30-40 minutes depending on your quick you are. I replaced mine in less then 30 minutes on my 98 GT. You can get a new lower intake with the aluminum crossover from KarKraft.com or however you spell it for like $99 brand new.

you might try looking at blue oval news If I remember correctly ford had a "silent recall " on them, but as stated above I think it was 98' and lower years. not sure though...

OUCH!! no freaking way!! what the hell parts are they even talking about? there is nothing extra needed for a intake swap. Just the damn intake. I hate it when ford takes advantage of people like this. Order the intake yourself for the $99 or $109 (i think they raised the price last time i checked but either way its alot cheaper) and just replace it yourself and save alot of money. You resuse all the old parts on the new intake so there are no more "parts" as they will try to tell you that you need. Dont ever trust ford to do something on your car. All they know how to do is overcharge and do poor quality work

edit: also the silent recall only applies to 96 and 97 models. They wouldnt even give me a new one on my 98 when it cracked.

only 97 intakes are covered and according to the asses at my dealership, only certain models. they tried to hassle me about it but it didn't work. They fixed it for free. My advice for a temporary solution is to clean it up, dry it up and then patch it with a high temp silicone sealant or some jb weld. It won't be pretty but it'll stop the leak.

well im trying to get a blower for christmas and im thinking if i have to buy a new one i might as well try to find an upper and lower bullet intake.

do you guys think it would be worth it on a blower application?

I bought mine from Randy Stinchcomb over on the Modular Depot board. He is the manager of a Ford Parts department in Ohio. I didn't go to Ford locally because of how rediculously much they wanted. I spent less than $200 (shipping included) and installed it myself.

Go to Modular Depot and ask Randy what he can do for you...
