Is this the clutch....

When you press the clutch in, you hear a high pitched squaking almost grinding sound, when you let off, it goes away. Car still goes into gear and drives, but you can smell a burning kinda like clutch, and it smokes from the left rear of the engine compartment from down low.

Throw out bearing maybe.

Does the clutch slip when you romp on it?

im with the direction Daggar is going (i think). sounds like the TOB and PP do not like eachother. the PP might be taking a poo poo on you. (clutch does not completely disengage - though it does enough to shift, it is slipping).
