Is this worth it???

I found a '68 coupe in one of the local traders, and I was wondering if you guys think its worth the money from the description he gave me.

It has a rebuilt 302, new intake, carb, radiator, gas tank. The interior is a little faded from the sun, but its all there and no rips in the seats. The dash is sun cracked and will need replaced. As of now the brakes dont work on the car, and there is a bad bushing on one of the leaf springs. It has a 4 speed tranny and runs down the road really good. No visible rust, just a couple small bubbles, and the paint is faded. It has Torq Thrust D's for wheels

and the price he wants is $4500 FIRM.

Mostly all fox mustangs, these old stangs dont show up too often

I bought a '65 in almost the same mechanical and interior condition as the one you described for $5200. But I have no issues with brakes or suspension, and although the paint is not show quality, it is a very good daily driver type job. I'd say around $4000 would be a good price, so it might be a little high, however I'm pretty new to Mustangs (and cars in general) so some experts here could probably give you some better input.

Well I took a look at the ol' coupe today, and found out the description sounded alot better over the phone...There was rust (not just bubbles) at the bottom of the rear glass, and paint bubbles everywhere...And the motor didnt look rebuilt and didnt sound it either...And for the interior, it had red 70's style diamond pattern upholstery. And for the floor pans instead of replacing them(like he said) someone just welded a piece of sheet metal over the top...It was definately not worth it, I would have given him $3000 for it at the most, but he wouldnt budge on the price

Good call. For next time - the bubbles of rust are a good indicator of a lot more rust to be found. Always check the usual spots: rear trunk area, lower quarter panels, floorboards, cowl area, etc. Be patient and a good deal will show up sooner or later.
