Ive come to realize that people mod cars for different reasons..

meh.. ur car is extremly mild compared to a lot of stangers out there... So i wouldn't say ur alone in the passion for the sport at all.

or, you could agree that most douchbags that drive"sick cars" and think they are car guys because they can take their car to get work done, and that there are a few occasional guys that truely share the passion and love for mustangs and cars in general. i am one of those guys who has car-gasms over terminators, or nicely modded foxes, or a bitchin classic. for some its a lifestyle, for some a hobby, and some to look "cool" i happen to take it as a lifestyle and am damn proud of it. i dont drink, i dont smoke because i love driving my home every night and not worrying about anything but getting too sideways. nothing is a better feeling then rompin the chit outta your car and just smiling out of pure love for the car. you dont find many people like that

due to my lack of mechanic skills, i think i am one of those people your talking about... theres alot of things i would like to do to my car that might not happen.. its my fault for buying a car that was already done up.. taking the supercharger off was my biggest regret.. But on a plus note i dont smoke weed or get wasted, so i have that going for me...lol

I guess when it comes down to it, I've done more repairing than actually Modding. The GT is pretty much how it was when I bought it, except I've rebuilt the engine & spent countless hours troubleshooting things. The mods I have done have been mostly for necessity (electric fan on the LX was because the car was wrecked and the stock fan wouldn't work; prochamber was because my stock h-pipe needed replaced). I just like working on, fixing, tinkering and learning how/why things work.

I don't go out of my way to be wreck less if people are around, but I don't mind getting sideways when the streets are clear.

I plan to buy a house in the next 6-mo/year and I will not consider a house which doesn't have a double-car garage or enough room out back for a shop.

I don't drink or smoke either. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one. Hell, I don't even drink soda...

I always look back and my car (and truck) when I'm walking away from it. Sometimes I even walk around them just to admire

your never too old to learn....i love working on cars.....keeps me happy...till things break lol.

I really just like the cars. I dont really have any interest in squeezing as much horsepower as I can out of one. I like the throaty sound of a V8 and I also like the jet engine sound of a T3 kicking in on one of the turbo-4's. I just try to make mine look as nice as I can with the limited amount of money that I have and try not to get them to leak oil all over the driveway.

I agree with what your saying, 95% of the people in my area are like that but not just with mustangs. For me, I believe Iam a real car guy. I have no interest in doing drugs or underage drinking, though I cant say I havent street raced or anything of the sort. Basicly if your turning a wrench every weekend and dont mind getting dirty or work on just keeping your car as clean as possible thats someone thats really into cars to me. When so and so says to me "Iam going to put naws or a supercharger in my car" and you look at the car and know for starters the car isnt even worth the price of either kit or the owner has no money, thats a poser. Or the guy who thinks he is mega sicc pulls out of a parking lot, spins tire then goes to shift and theres a pause that seems like forever...

I hate it when "car people" around here get all excited about econo cars and say how insanely fast they are with a intake and straight piped exaust. I guess I am just all about what the car runs, and how much power it makes. I have only had one automatic stock stang, and now I am buiding a 408 solid roller, AFR 225, 5 speed coupe to drive on the street.... And I have only driven a 5 speed one time. I guess not every "car person" has been biten by the HP bug like me though.

I like all cars but can't deny, a nice fox, or mustang for that matter is where its at for me. I am big into power too, but for me its about doing it myself and that causes a lot of frustration when something just is not right. Once I figure out the problem its all worth it. Anybody can buy a fast car, but how many can build one. I also have a wife and two kids with one income so I would say its more a passion than a hobby. I give up alot of other things for my car and I am O.k. with that. As far as the drugs and stuff, those people need to get a life, with the right things going on in life you should not have to do that crap. I talk about doing alot of stuff and it takes alot of time but it eventually gets done. To each his own, Everyone has one thing in life they are really passionate about, I am just glad everyone is not in to mustangs, its allready hard enough to keep up with the Jonses

Working on my Mustangs is my form of therapy ... some people pay a ton of money to a shrink to get their head straightened out. For me, I pay a ton of money to companies like Vortech and Maximum Motorsports to get my head straightened out. The therapy comes in putting the parts on and then enjoying the test drive.

When I have an extremely stressful day at work, I think to myself "this is all worth it" especially when the payoff is driving my fox on a nice summer day, rowing through the gears, and giving the proverbial middle finger to the rest of the world with my loud exhaust. I would consider my passion for mustangs not only a hobby but also a way of life.

and of course I love to just sit back and admire the final product too

I admit, I have limited mechanic knowledge and I do what I can to change that. I enjoy reading both here and other resources, I love going to the performance shop, doing basic repairs, ect.

I had a military bonus burning a hole in my pocket, and I always dreamed of having a classic Mustang. During my search for a decent 65, I came across a 93. My father had a fox when I was growing up, and I've always loved them. I met with the owner of the 93 to take a look at it, and an hour later I was coming home in it.

It seems like that feeling is better than any feeling you can get from being wasted, high etc.

Hey, i own 3 mustangs an 87 ttop gt, a 90 mustang gt, and a 96 mustang v6 and i love them alot more than the crappy weed around here!

my dealer just got caught so I guess its stang time for me!!! LOL

Car Guys

For those of you who say you have little mechanical knowledge... the best way to learn is to try to do it yourself!! It is hugely rewarding in many ways... Most installs and jobs are alot easier than you think... some can definetely be frustrating at times.. I have a 88 gt vert and it definetely is an ongoing continuous project... I am 24 and purchased my first mustang for 500 before I even had my license... it was a 83 gt hatch.. and I was so excited to drive it for the first time... it sat in my yard for a good couple years.. I tried to do a ton of work on it.. pulled the engine, took it all apart at school in shop class, it turned out that the frame was pretty rusted out so I parted it out.. but I learned a ton from that engine pull!! and the main thing is that it was fun. About a year after getting rid of it I got my 88.. Definetely was the most exciting thing bringing it home the first time.. It ran great back then,, but time and wear catches up to ya.. To be honest I do feel good driving to the beach or around in the summer when you get people looking at ya driving by.. the car catches the eye for sure.. There's nothing wrong with that.. It is a bit frustrating though when you get to the point where your not sure what's up with the car. I have bbk equal length headers, moved the battery to the trunk, underdrive pulleys, electric fan (lincoln mark 8), and a new alt. But it still runs kinda rough.. idle's at about 1700 rpm. and has a bit of a tick.. I was almost positive it was just a header leak.. and there was a hole in the original header that's why I went with the new ones.. I definetely get excited about the car.. that now needs a paint job, new top, and some serious tlc. Someone key'd it pretty good.. which is frustrating.. I'm a pretty good person, treat people with respect... I don't think I had that coming at all.. Every thing I have ever done to the mustang I have done on my own with help from dad... It's a fun hobby!!! This forum is definetely great for learning... Sometimes money holds ya back a bit but patience with the hobby is important too!!!! Some people want everything now.. you could go to mustang unlimited and sit and write down all the parts you would like if you won a lottery... but you'll never get your money back.. it's a trade off.. you could go out and buy a fast car... or you could slowly mod your mustang.. even though it won't pay off.. it will in a different sense!!!!!

I am the person that has a love for working on my car. I rip it apart, put it back together and dont mind doing it all over again as long as its worth it. It kept me from underage drinking, kept me away from drugs, and kept me sane a lot of the time. I also use it to get closer with my dad and now my brother, and gives me something to take up my time with.

I look forward to finishing my huge project this spring and getting out there doing what I love.

My biggest hatred comes from the guys that say they will take it to the track, they will, they will. They say this for 3+ years and NEVER go. If you dont intend to go, dont tell me your going to. And when you dont go, dont ever try to tell me what your car is capable of, because it isnt capable of anything until it has a number with it!
