Hey everyone, I've been thinking...

I could do a head swap $1500 and cam but I work all the time and I cant be out of my car for that long anymore. I am looking for a supercharger with or without a intercooler. Please give me some specks and sugestions.

Mods are in sig so im guessing im around 220 RWHP never took it to a dyno.

Looking for 300+ RWHP after a good tune , Im in NJ so if anyone knows a good place I'll be going there.

Novi 2000...

'Nuff said

Go to Laroccas for the tune; they are as good as it gets. They are located in Old Bridge Township.

Kenne Bell.... Hands down the best supercharger out there. Everyone I have asked who owns one doesnt have a single complaint about it. They'll reach full boost way before a vortech, paxton, etc. The only downside for you is you'll have to sell your Trick Flow intake, and get a GT-40 or Cobra lower intake but that will just give you even more money for the blower.

www.kennebell.net

go with the kenne bell, they say the pull like a big block, adn they can reach full boost by 2000 rpm, but thye do fall off on the top end...and I think they are a much easier install. If you can do and intake, you can do it with ease.

you can get water injection with the kennebell which will work as well if not better then most intercoolers.....but if i was you i would go turbo....if not turbo then kennebell

I just go off the phone with Laroccas and they said with the stuff I have done to my car I should be putting down 360 to 380 RWHP with a P1SC. Paxton with the 3 core inter cooler. Sound good to me only after the install and tune im up to around $6500-$7000.

Thats too pricey for me.

Need one that I could install myself. Then get a chip burned by them. To be honest 360-380 would be great i would would take a little less right now.

the 380hp is good and all but the tq curve is what realy matters...look at the curve for a paxton, kennebell and a turbo then tell me which you would rather have....then pick the one you can afford....but turbos can be done for cheap and they willl give you the best area under the curve.

Is it just me or the only thing a turbo has in common with a Kenne Bell is full boost by 3000 RPM? Kenne Bells don't make near the power that any type of centrifugal blower does, and the power a KB makes pales in comparison to a turbo setup. Not everybody has 3 weeks to fimble around with a car, half assing some turbo setup together just because guys on the internet say "this is how you make power..." I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with anyone, I just don't like turbos.

Here, I find a Paxton kit on www.superchargersonline.com, and it says, "We are unable to display our price for this product because it is substantially below list price ($4,013.84)." Paxtons are the most efficient centrifugal supercharger on the market. No one can argue that.

I wouldn't get the KB for many reasons. One being that gas mileage is probably terrible because you hit full boost so early. Two, they are way down on power. Three, they aren't nearly as efficient as a Paxton. Four, KB's customer service 100% sucks.

i would love to throw a turbo in there but its prob going to cost the same as the paxton install, which I would rather a turbo for down the road but i belive once i get over 300hp ill be happy. For a week or so. Then I have to redo the suspension and all the other fun stuff that will be breaking.

the KB is not about peak numbers....the KB is gonna be about the area under the curve....the KB is gonna give you nearly instant boost and gobs of torque....a centrigugal blower builds boost with RPMs so the boost wont be as much downlow and it will slowly build through the RPM range...and Turbos are gonna give you that instant boost(if you pick the turbo right) and you dont have the parastatic(sp?) of the supercharger because the turbo runs on exhaust gas and not off the crank pulley....a big advantage to the turbo is boost can be changed instantly without installing a new pulley.....if it was up to me...id go either with a big single turbo with a nice huge intercooler...or a Kenne Bell Blowzilla, with the Flowzilla inlet and the water injection kit....

.....turbos are the best way to make power, period....they make the most power...have nearly instant boost when you set up the combo correctly and put less stress on the motor than a blower, they allow boost levels to be played with by flipping a switch, or turning a screw....turbo is the way to go if you want to make the most power....

All's i am saying is peak numbers aren't everything if you want 400rwhp get a paxton but if you want 400rwhp and 450rwtq with 300lbft of that tq at 2500rpms get a roots blower or a turbo

thanks guys the infos great but i need some pricing on this stuff or atleast where to get it from. I could install the kenny bell myself. I have to mechanical experiance and i've done a head swap and 2 intake swaps with no problems. My buddys got a 93 F150 with a 5.0 in it. Its like a home away from home.

kenny bell might win for me if I can get it for a good price and install it my self. Anyone who has one let me know.

Can I get a dyno tune from the same place laccros or whatever its called and get the chip.

If anyone has pics of a KB I would like to see that, I was at a shop a month ago with a fox body had one in it. My mecainic said the first 3 gears are useless for traction.

I would like to see Don95vert chime in here.

He has a KB 2200 and has said that a centrifugal blower will turn faster 1/4 mile times than a KB. It makes more peak horsepower than a KB, yes. But, it also makes more power under the curve, hence the faster track times.

Not to sound like a dick, but the arguement for a KB holds no water.

A car with a KB has no traction, sure, but my 200 horsepower Mustang with a 3.73 spins the tires when you stomp on.

the torque curve on a centrifugal blower will have nothing on the KB.....and most people do find that the centrifugal blower is a little faster in the 1/4....but the instant torque of the KB from what ive heard/read is a better "street blower"

I've noticed KB users 60 foot times is always higher then centrifugal's due to low end torque at early rpm. KB drivers have to battle peak HP very low in the run which makes hooking it up more difficult. This is probably the only reason centrifugual cars are quicker at the track a bit. The KB peak numbers are right there with the others though. DonVert's soft top runs 11.4's which is right on with the centri blowers. I'm a believer that a KB is the way to go (this from a S-Trim fan).

what I dont understand is how something can make boost at a low rpm and fall on its face in the upper rpm. If the boost comes in at say 2500rpm, it will stay at that until you let off the gas right? So then why would it matter in the upper rpm? Not trying to start an argument, just want to know.

If you want to have a fun street car then a KB will be good, a track car then something like the Novi is good. Theres no doubt turbos make wicked power and keep it, but the kits are really expencive and require a lot of work to install... and if you make your own kit, plan to have your car down for at least a month and it'll require more work than you can imagine.

Its really up to you what SC you want... I personally like the KB cause it'll make boost at a low RPM so that would make for a fun street car. It runs for about $3500 I think, the Novi is around $4000, then a turbo kit will be at least $4500. Everyone has their own opinions on which is the best, you just have to figure out which is the best for you.

so basically its gonna come down the the driver being able to put the power down....nothing a set of slicks, or ET streets wouldnt cure i would think....

Thanks for all the info guys. Now that i have really looked into it it is probably cheaper to buy a good set of head and a cam and get it tuned right. I'll start a new thread about that.

Who ever thought getting blown would be so expensive.
