I got bored so i decided to play with my stock duel snorkel breather setup and see if i could make a duel ram air setup. The stock setup was actually a pretty nice and pretty smart idea since it's basically a duel fender mounted CAI, but with one central breather like a typical carb. For right now i'm probably just going to run some aluminum flex tube to the fenders, but what i really want is a couple of real EFI style fender mount CAIs and then mate them to my snorkel breather, and run the inner fender breathers just like you'd have on EFI, but have one on each side and then no filter inside the snorkel. Also, K+N make some pretty cool lids for these breathers that are actually a breather themselves...pretty slick.

Here's the breather....i repainted it a couple years ago with Duplicolor wheel coating, it doesn't look too bad. I'm going to clean up the breather lid untill i get my K+N lid in stock.

Here's the couplers i'm using...pretty awesome, i found them at the hardware store. I was pretty out of ideas on how to mate the flex tube to the rectangular snorkel but these work perfectly and add a bit of blingery to it lol.

I saw a setup like this on a badass '85 autocross car and he said it worked great. With a typical breather, the carb is sucking up a lot of hot engine bay air, and this helps to pull in some colder air. The cool part about this is my '79 Cobra hood actually has a cutout from the factory that works with the scoop on the hood to provide more hood clearance, otherwise this would hit a stock hood with the Vic. Jr. intake.

I ran my stock 83 air cleaner into the wheel wells and made ducts in the front air damn for Ram Air... It was ghetto, and I doubt it helped at all lol

No but the scoop on my hood has a removable front opening so it could be opened and that would provide more cool air.

Why do people quote someones whole post with pics and everything to make a response??? Mostly everyone knows who your talking to and what your talking about...

Just a pet peeve of mine (not attacking you in particular, just speaking in generl).

Also nice looking set up. I think if done right it will look mean. Maybe try something with a custom intake up top, and all welded up and smoothed into the fenderwell CAIs with filter on the end of them (no filter on the intake).

im pritty sure with your car, if you connect like 10 straws from Mc donalds togeather, one end un your mouth, and the other end under your hood...
it will work just the same as a duel snorkel... LOL J/k...

its just way to easy to get you when leave it wide open like that!
