just finished my t5 swap!!

i cant recall ever seeing a neutral safety switch on a manual trans....unless its to override the clutch safety.

as for the wires... i just unpluged mine at the firewall.

so in a car originally equiped with a T5, this would bypass the clutch safety switch? so in order to start the car... you either have to have it in neutral, or step on the clutch?

this would be a great safety feature for a remote start option.... the light bulb just came on

btw..sorry for the thread hyjack

I don't know if the vehicles equipped with these T5's had a safety on the clutch as well?
I know I hooked it up to my wiring (C4 neutral safety switch wiring) and it works perfectly. Just cut the piece off that went on the shifter lever and use the two wires to hook up to the T5. All the switch inside the tranny does is complete an electrical circuit when the shifter is in neutral. Simple but effective.
I could never see myself starting the car without the clutch pushed in just because of years of habit, but it's a nice safety feature that cost nothing and only took about 10 minutes to hook up.
Just so we're clear on this.
it's not the switch you see here in the centre/right of the photograph under the slave cylinder bracket. That's the back-up light switch.

The neutral safety switch is located near the front/top of the tranny and usually has two stubs of wires coming out of it. If you're lucky there's a couple inches of wire on there that you can splice into. I attached bullet connectors to those wires as well as the old C4 safety wires to make the connection. From the engine compartment side it looks no different than stock.

THREAD HYJACK: where did you get the push type slave/bracket? how well does it work? im trying to figure out a better set-up than what i have..... wilwood pull type slave... that sits way to close to the shorty headers...cooking the o-rings almost as reg as oil changes.... that set up looks like it would work a million times better.

back on track with the thread..... i just might be hooking the neutral switch up when i put the car back together.... im sure i can somehow redundant wire it into my clutch safety... which is for NO2 cut off. that way i dont have to fumble with getting it back to neutral when i kill it on a luanch...just step on the clutch and hit the key. thanks for the info
