Well, I jsut installed the h-pipe. Really excited through the whole process, tightened everything up, kinda looked at what I was replacing (going from 6 cats to not a single one), got in the car, and fired it up....

LOUD!! Wow. Reversed down the driveway, and took off. Holy *****. Its loud.

When I was 18, I was stoked with my 91GT. Ran o/r h-pipe the day after I got it, didnt care, loved it. Threw some shorty headers on there, loved it. The louder it got, the more I liked it...

What happened? I think I am PARANOID of cops. THis thing is loud. And smells really really bad. Why now and not before? I have no clue. I wasnt worried the slightest bit back a few years ago, but now I am.

What do you guys think? Im in CA. SOuthern CA. Should I be worried about cops? I mean, if I was a cop, and I was behind a mustang in traffic, and he filled my lungs with exhaust, I would obviously know he wasnt running cats. And the sound totally reinforces the fact.

If I decide to get rid of it, its up for grabs. I jsut paid $170 + shipping. Its the coated (black) mac h-pipe. Its a new design, i guess. Now its a 3-piece set and the 'H' isnt in 2 halves. Doesnt really matter, just different than a few yrs ago.

I have Bassani exhaust and at first it was loud but after a couple thousand miles it has really quieted down! If I were you I would stick cats on also it won't be as loud

You can't just stick cats on there without cutting the pipe and then welding them onto the off-road pipe he just bought. It isn't practical. If anything pipes get louder as they break/burn in. I'm not sure as to why yours got quiter but as far as I know it's not normal.

Just keep it. You only live once. I'm kind of in the same boat. I just ordered my Magnaflow Catback today to match up with my longtubes and prochamber. That SOB is gonna be loud. The old people that live next to me are going to hate my guts. I usually go to work about 5:30am

It's the cat-back. The Mac is loud. A guy I work with has the same set-up. He went through a off-road H (I bought it from him to put on my car) a Bassani X/catback, a Dr Gas X, a Prochamber (that he traded me to get the Mac H back). All of those set-ups were quieter than his Mac H and Mac catback he has now (his original setup LOL).

Isn't a tuned loud exhaust what it's all about?

I installed a prochamber and 2.5" Magnaflow/Magnapack catback. It is loud, but sounds great, and there are ones' that are louder!

COPS COPS COPS COPS!!! Come on guys. Arent you worried about getting nailed with o/r setups??

Think thats what it comes down to. The legal stuff.

Try o/r H and 3" dumps! Imagine my suprise when I went from completely stock to this. I fired it up in the auto garage here on post and everyone stopped what they were doing to see what the hell was making all that noise. . .so I revved it a bit I too am paranoid about cops, been pulled over a few times, they never say anything about it except. ...sounds good

He doesn't spell 'there' properly either...in this case, it should be 'their'.
Proof that anyone can sign on the dotted line...

you'll get used to it. When i first put on my o/r h I was tempted to take it off because of its loudness. me and my friends even made bets on how long it would be before I got pulled over with it. After about a month it didn't seem too loud anymore. Its all in your head. its been almost a year now, and I still haven't gotten pulled over for it yet. In-fact I've had a few cops give me a thumbs up for it. One cop even asked me if I could make his cruiser sound like mine. The funny thing is my friend in an 00 gt with a o/r x and flows (sounds like tincans rattling in the mufflers) has gotten pulled over 3 times for his exhaust, and he lives in the same town as me.
