Place the order about 5 minutes ago. I got the midlenghts that bolt right up to my bassani x pipe. Also got them in ceramic coated. I talked to Lightning Force Performance and Houston performance and they said it shoud be me at least 15-20 rwhp.

By the way, if anyone is looking into the Bassani headers Lightning Force peformance and is a lot cheaper than everyone else. They beat Houston Peformance by about $50 and that is where I usaully get my parts at because they have such good deals.

Cool.

Do you need a tune to see that 15-20 HP?

Are the Bassani Header CARB certified? Something tells me they are not.

They told me that I really didn't need to tune it. They said the Saleen is really lean and the timing is set really low.

Saleen556-I got them for $524 shipped. Some places quoted me around $650 shipped. The closest price was $565 shipped.

No tune? Is this right? Correct me if I'm wrong but if it is really lean and you are adding headers that will help flow more air, won't you be risking a lean condition that could cause damage.

I want to know because I want to add headers and I was wondering if I needed to tune following.

More airflow usually leans things out, and if its lean from factory, then good luck.

Maybe it is rich from the factory and I misunderstood him. He did say that I didn't need a tune. Anyone else have any info on this?

those guys don't know what they're talking about. it would be very foolish to add headers and just crank it up and drive around. get the tune man, and get it done by someone who knows what he's doing.

The bad thing is that I don't have a place that tunes even close to me. I might get an SCT Excal 2 for now and have JMS or Modular Powerhouse make me some custom tunes to get me by.

tim at MPH won't do a mail order tune. if i were you, i'd get the car to MPH or Kauffman's (in PA i think) without the headers on and let them do the install and put a good tune on there. it's worth the piece of mind.

That won't really work for me. I live in Illinois! I've heard quite a few people with Saleens getting the tune from JMS Chip and being almost right on. I will probably go that route and then sometime in the summer drive about 3 1/2 hrs. and get it custom tuned from there.

BTW-ProbableCause, how do the bassani headers sound with the bassani x pipe? That much louder? Deeper?

well i asked around and heard from tim at MPH. you don't have to have a tune done for headers...however, it would be wise to get some pulls done and make sure the A/F is where it needs to be. i had mine retuned for max power potential.

the headers made the car more quite but better sounding. WOT is louder though and sounds awesome. and yes, it's a bit deeper too.

Probablecuase,

What was MPH's opinion of the mid-length Bassani's vs LT's? I have been thinking about these as well, but have not seen a real shoot out of them vs LT's. How much did you pick up? Also, did you do your lower end? I see you have a KB as well, and if I'm gettting low 400's now, and add another 20-30 with the headers, I'm concerned I am living on barrowed time.

I mostly want to do them as I do not like the way my car sounds. If I get them, I am going to go with the Bassani catted mid pipe to try and get rid of the raspyness, especailly under compression slowing.

tim told me that LT's will make more power, but only in the end on a high power car. on cars like mine (400-500) he said it wouldn't make a difference. i gained abotu 15/15 to the tires....check out my post a couple up from here. i posted a link to my thread write up on the headers. there's a video on there too. stock bottom end...tim has never lost a motor.

you can make relatively high power safely on the stock short block, it's all in the tune. the more a car is breathing well and making power without high boost and fuel, the better. i'm at 403/421...
