I just got my Pullies on and love the extra lower end power i picked up. So im looking for the next mod to do. Ive always been a fan of K&N i ran one on my Go-Ped when i was younger and on my dirtbikes. The clean a lot better than the stock ones, and also claim more HP. I was wondering if this
mod is worth the 199$ plus tax. Even if the kit isnt i still think ill get just the aircleaner. Mostly because they clean better than stock filters.

i've got that k&n kit you're looking at. it's probably the highest quality, nicest kit out there you can buy

would i buy it again? nope

just buy the filter and start saving up for more important things

Thats some good info to know, i kind of wondered what the kit did that just the airfilter doesnt. Also roush makes one as well, it looks similar to the K&N kit does anyone have anything to say about that one? I see BBK makes a "cold air" one. If it really does "cool" the air running through it then it should make more power in theory.

The kit is called cold air intake but it really does not COOL the air. All it does is take the air from inside the fender which in theory cooler because it is not in the hot engine compartment.

Most kits come with a metal intake tube which gets hot as hell. Therefore the air passing through it heats up.

Studys on the site have proven, you get the same performance results from a drop in K&N

buy the fipk.if u want it now ull want it later so why spend $50 on a k&n filter.i did and than replaced it, cause i wanted the fipk.i got lucky and got one on ebay for 72$ shipped.look around and get one used, many people change em cause they are not happy with what they have or change to kenne belle or so. also avoid the metal ones, get k&n, jlt, roush.but gears, plenum tb, and o/r h pipe make more power for same price.

When it comes to filtration a paper filter traps more debris than a K&N does. Not a lot more mind you, but a measurable amount more. It's a misnomer that the high-flow performance air filters like K&N are better than a quality paper filter.

U.M.

Yip, that's what I was going to say but you beat me to it!

Studies are cool and all...But I gained 6rwhp going from just a drop-in to a full FIPK...So it worked great for me.

Did you correct the A/F ratio for the base run and again after the CAI install? If not, the extra 6hp may be from a slightly leaner A/F and not the CAI.

True...It was a bit leaner, but not by much...I don't think the .7 would have gave me 6 extra horses though

It's possible, depending on where the A/F was on the first run of course, but chances are good the CAI may pick up another couple HP once your car is out on the road and moving as opposed to just being strapped on a dyno.

Hmmm.......I'll have to try it on the G-tech in the HP mode to see I can pick up any noticable difference with and without the CAI and then try it with my big 9 inch filter. I've tried swapping them back and forth at the track but couldn't tell if there was a measurable difference.

I got 3rwhp from my FIPK Dyno'd before and after.

Worth it? No for HP gains, but yes for looks if that concerns you. As was stated above you'll do just as well HP wise, by just throwing in a K&N drop-in filter and taking out the air silencer.

I purchased a K&N today from Kragen, I dont think it gave it much more noticable power but it was worth it. Where is the air silencer? I better leave it in considering im taking my car in monday to the dealership (this is the 30th time so far , not kidding).. The check engine light it on, and brake lights and blinkers are f:u:c:k,e,d up, Also for TSB#04-26-13... Does the air silencer really give me extra hp or is it one of those mods that only makes you feel faster?
