Just installed a new k&N intake. All the hoses are nice and tight. Should I really have anything to worry about. When I reconnected the battery and started my car it started a tiny bit slower. When you disconect the battery will it mess with your computer a bit? Is performance a little bit different for a little while?

When I changed my filter I turned the key and I saw my speedometer and tack go all the way around confirming the restart of the computer so I think mine might have taken and extra second or two to start up but nothing more and there shouldn't be a decrease of power or preformance check your house and make sure that even though they are tight that they arent pinching of anywhere. I had to lengthen on of the houses on my car because if I didnt it would have been pinched off.

What you experienced is normal. Having the battery disconnected long enough will reset the computer, and give you that first start roughness. Nothing to worry about, as the computer will start learning about the new airflow.

After driving for a few miles, you should also clean your MAF sensor. Some of the oil from the K&N will be blown downstream and will collect on the heated MAF wires, which will goo them up and could cause incorrect airflow readings.

Just spray the MAF wires with MAF sensor cleaner or electronic parts cleaner (NOT carb or TB cleaner!), let dry, and you're good to go.
