Been doing some research on new tires for my 01 Stang. I'm currently running the stock rim / tire 245/45/17. The reviews i have read on the KDW-II seems really good. When i went over to www.tirerack.com they dont seem to carry them in the 245/45/17 the ones i need. My car has been lowered with H&R SS springs, Blisten shocks and CC plates. Can anyone recommend a tire and size or a website that carries the KDW-II in the size i need?

I just dont want to spend 900.00 on some tires and not have my car ride / look right.

Thanks for the Info.

Ok so I was in the same boat you were a couple weeks ago. The BFG KDW comes in two different tread styles, traditional and new. The KWD2s are the KDW with the new tread style, and is not available on every tire width/sidewall ratio setup. For the 245/45r17, you will only be able to get the traditional tread, KDW2s are only available for 275/40r17 and 315/35r17 setups i believe. Here is a PDF straight from BFG with all the tire size and tread style configurations http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/assets/pdf/gforce_ta_kdw.pdf

I personally went with the KDW 255/45r17, traditional tread

And if you're not happy with those sizes maybe you should consider Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s... You won't be disappointed.

well you either have to run the tradition tread design as they do make those sizes or get 255 40 series and have you tire be .7 inches shorter.

or buy new 18 wheels and run 245/35-18's

I got my Falken Ziex ZE-512s in P245/45ZR-17 size for $90 each and they are rated higher by Consumer Reports magazine than any other all season performance tire including the F1s.

Look through the Summit catalogue for the drag slicks. There some expensive tires.

Good choice on the KDWs, that's what I use and I can't break these things loose unless I try. ...Which I do often, but the point stands. I like the fact that I don't slide around in the summer here in Florida, anymore.

Thanks for all the replys. One more question!

Whats the difference between 255 vs the 245's? Also will a 255 fit and look ok on the stock GT rims?

Thanks

Yes, I'm a noob when comes to tires..

I just got my KDWs. the 255s are slightly wider, I think they will look good on my stock 8" wheels. They're almost 10" wide though!

Did you decided to run 255's on all 4, or just the back?

I have 255 Goodyear F1 GS D3's in all four corners.The 255's seem
to fit better than the 245's for some reason.

I'm running KDW2's size 255-40-17's on stock bullit rims without a problem. It's a great tire, but noisy.

I'm sure KDWs are great tires and I'll probably try them next but that tread design looks "H" rated. I need to have my "Z" rated "herring bone" cuts in my tires. That gets noticed too. Wasn't even a week after I got my F1s installed that a guy at the gas station said, "Hot tires for a hot car"... I swear...! My girlfriend was there and commented on how often my car gets compliments.
