keeping my wheels clean/making em look good

Don't want to hijack this thread, but I have polished wheels also, and I've got all this crap stuck to them since the winter...tar and stuff....which does NOT polish out by hand.

Is there anything more abrasive that you guys recommend, or have used yourself, that you know works. I've used the Blue Magic Polish, and it's great for shining up an already healthy looking wheel, but I need to do some serious cleaning before I can worry about putting the final shine to them.

I've thought of going over the wheels with a really fine sandpaper to get all the crap off first, like an 800 grit, then a 1000 grit, then a 2000 grit, then a metal polish. What do you guys think?

Try Autosol, available at most automotive stores. If you haven't tried it yet, do so, if not, and you can't find it down there, get in touch. I don't know if you guys have it in the states. It's a long painstaking process, but I've used it on chrome rims and polished rims, it works wonders. It's not a big name, but I've surprised even some guys driving harleys with the amount of shine it produces, while cleaning off all the old crap too

what i do since i have acess to a power washer at wok is i just spray em off every couple of days so the road grime and brake dust dosent have time to get caked on there i also spray em down with eagle one chrome wire cleaner
