Kenne Bell on the 5.0??

I have had both jackson racing (roots) and vortech (centrifical) not on my mustang though. If your looking for a good light to light car with better gas mileage, autocrossing and not alot of drag racing get the kenny, It would be a monster in torque from any rpm (1000-5000). But if you want to do some drag racing or full road course get the vortech less heat soak and good top end power...lets face it our cars have good torque from the factory but lack top end. Me personally I would get a turbo if money permits...you get the best of both worlds and don't have to really worry about turbo lag as long as you get the right size turbo due to the quick spool up time with ball bearings...etc. Plus you can adjust the boost with the turn of a knob.

It sounds like you've made up your mind, but I did want to offer up some input. The new V3 Si-trim Vortech (you can have an S-trim upgraded to the Si, but it won't be self-contained) is still a great deal. If you're going with the KB, you may have a hell of a time finding traction with some 3.73 gears. It's going to have GOBS of torque down low, where a centrifugal will give you a little cushion off idle. I like to rev, since most racing (at the track) is done in the higher RPM range, so the centrifugal was the better choice for me. If you sidestep the clutch with a KB, or a Vortech, you're going to annihilate the tires either way once you're into boost.

get some 3.73's and the vortech and NEVER look back.. Kenne Bell's are great on 4V cobra's and 3V gt's but aren't too impressive for us.. The 302 makes plenty of low and midrange torque as it is.. With my 4.10's and STICKY 315/30/18 Azeni's, I can still blow the tires off in second gear...

This will be more of a daily driver, light to light type of car. I know that the kb just replaces the upper intake manifold, but does anyone know how hard/easy a kb or a vortech is to install??

My car hasn't seen the track since 99 (it's looooooooooong overdue), but I've never had any trouble finding power on the street.

Either one is going to be a good weekend long project, with adding new fuel system components, changing hoses, brackets, etc. They're not particularly difficult to install and really don't require anything other than basic hand tools. They just require time and the ability to follow directions, honestly.

If you like changing head gaskets, get the KB.
It doesn't work the same on a pushrod engine without the intercooler as it does on an intercooled modular.
Modulars they are good on, pushrods they are not so good.
I don't care if its the track or the street, a well setup vortech car will outrun the KB car.
Especially since the v3 vortech easily eclispses 500rwhp without breaking a sweat.

Every person i know that has had a kb on a pushrod car, has ditched it.

I suggest intercooling any forced induction if you have the ability to. It dramaticly decreases intake air temps, fights detonation, makes it easier to tune, and allows more boost and power to be made with the same engine setup.

But to answer your question, I'm sure you could run one at 5-6psi w/o a intercooler.

With the vortech you can use any intake you like.
Vortech also offers the aftercooler setup as an add on.
Most people don't use it, but if you wanted to, you could.

Procharger is the way to go for big blowers F1R F2 D3. Their entry level blowers aren't so hot.

If you going to go that kind of money go with a turbo..Most turbo kits come with a intercooler...you can run lower boost by adjusting it with a boost controller...and if you want more boost you can dial it up...Hellion makes a complete kit for $3995....thats complete to....and you can use any intake you like thats the way im going...

I've got a 92 gt with similar mods and I've been going back and forth between vortech, KB or just sticking to NA and doing a top end kit since my motor was just rebuilt using hyper. pistons. However, after alot of research including calling a few shops and asking about tuning and so on the Vortch v3 seems like the best choice and is going to go on my car. I have similar mods to you only with 3.55 gears and my car gets **** for traction so the low end is definatly covered but the mid to top could use a little more which is where the vortech shines. All that low end from a KB isn't any good without traction and I know as my car sits I don't have any problem roasting the tires from light to light. As far as turbos go, there isn't a smog legal kit on the market and I live in CA so thats not an option for me.

I thought Hellion was? did they change the kit? if you go to there web site and look up the directions..it shows the smog pump bracket install? did they change the kit?....

They are smog legal if you also buy the cat converters they offer

I don't think hellion has a Carb # for their kit, it might pass the emissions but will definatly fail visual if hellion doesn't have an approved Carb# with the kit.

The vortech is much more efficient than the Kenne Bell or even a procharger.. There's no need to intercool until you get into higher boost..

I run 12# with no intercooler or Meth...

The trick flow intake will work well with the Vortech
