labor cost for spring change

I have an 01 GT and will soon be changing the stock springs for a set of Steeda sport springs. What labor cost am I looking at to have a shop do this if I provide the parts?

it took me 1 hour to do it with air tools so they will probably charge you 3 hours at anywhere from 55/hour to 80/hour

I agree that you need to do this yourself.

I have installed everything, short of the clutch, and there is really no hassle if you have the tools, time, and workspace. Ask around if you don't have tools, and remember that a book, some tools, and time are cheaper than the labor, plus you get to keep the tools, and the book!

Willie, I did talk to the Tires Plus shop here in my neighborhood and they said they would do it with my parts or theirs, but we didn't get down to the price. Give a local Tires/Shocks/Alignment shop a call...

Didn't a kid get killed last year changing his own springs? I thought the springs shot out of the car and hit him in the head, killing him...

But doing it yourself sure saves money...just be careful i guess

I called around before I did it myself and was getting quotes around $250 with an alignment.

I got a quote of $200 just for the install. I did mine at a friends shop and gave him $100 for letting me use his lift and air tools, he also helped out a lot. Springs are not hard at all to do if you have the tools and the time. It took us about 45 min and we had the car done. Him and I both have been working on Mustangs for a long time.

Do it yourself. It's not bad. All it cost me was a crushed thumb, and a whole lot of swearing.....

I don't know much about cars and it took us about 3 hours to change them.
1) Bolts wouldn't cooperate
2) Springs wouldn't go back in with the new isolators

And we did my shocks/struts too.

Overall, it was quite a learning experience. All I had was a $60 122 piece Stanley tool set, a jack, 2 jack stands, spring compressors (made it easier), and um... a flash light since it started to rain and got dark.

It's really easy if everything cooperates.

Took myself and a friend an hour and a half to do all four springs on my car. There's no reason anyone should pay someone else to do it. It's a piece of cake.

You guys need to learn how to make friends! I personally only own a Cordless Drill, small pliers kit, a soldering iron, screwdriver set, a couple floor jacks and stands.... But I have access to auto-mechanics' shops with lifts and air tools. And friends with floor speed-jacks, air compressors, engine-hoists and stands, and unlimited tools that I can use in my garage... Life is so much easier when you know people...

Woohoo! I just bought a cordless drill. I don't even own jack stands I have a jack though. haha.

I have a few friends with all these tools but they usually don't have time when I have time. Some work at garages when they can use the tools after hours and stuff like that. To get my struts done, I had to bring in the old and new ones and have them use an impact gun on them... Couldn't get them disasembled and resembled without it.

I want a lift and compressor

Thanks for all of the advice and encouragement. I have done some basic mods myself (cat back, pulleys, CAI) without too much trouble or swearing, so I think I am going to give this a try. I was just a little nervous about working on the suspension since i have never done it. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
