What should my last mod before I head to the track on the 17th be? I have a 2001 GT Vert with a CAI, Predator Tune and Mufflers removed.

I either want to buy a 75mm TB and Plenum or a catted X-Pipe.

What do you guys think would yield the best results?

First off.....put a set of mufflers back on it (cause muffler-less cars not only sound like @$$, but are just plain ghetto and it gives you all of zero horsepower) and go with the free flowing X-pipe. Or go with the X-pipe and induction mods if you can afford it.....then get out there and start practicing your first 60-feet. :nice:

ah **** brain i just saw your sig :notnice:

you losing the back pressure & tq without muffs.

get some gears, best bang for the buck.

I guess I just don't understand why no mufflers is any different than having a high flow muffler( or just a resonator like the SLP loudmouths). Also, any tq loss should be offset by slightly more HP in the Top end(notice I said slightly more HP)

And as for the gears, they are not feasable right now. My funds limit me to either a X-pipe or TB & Plenum.

Thank you for the responses....... more are welcome

Oh and I think my exhaust actually sounds pretty good. Not 100% how I want it to sound, but pretty good for a cheap mod.

if you can afford it, get a 5 piece X. so you can run no cats for the strip, then put them back on for around town. best way to make power is without cats.

i noticed a good gain on my intake and plenum, but i think that the CAI allowed for the gains to be felt... my issue is that i am a ittle too lean now with all my intake mods and ping on hot days around 5k rpm at WOT.

don't be discouraged with the times to start with. If this is your first time. pull around the water. if on street radials, do no burnout. line up and pre stage, if there is another car beside you let him prestage before you light the second bulb.
don't worry about the reaction time, maybe even wait until you see the green for a couple of runs and just practice getting off the line and what is the best rpm to leave at. once you get sub 2.2 60s then work on the reaction times. race you own times before you race someone elses. do not use tracion control.
good luck

Hmm, well no mufflers is NOT going to hurt your trap...thats for sure. the stock mufflers are pretty restrictive. Removing the mufflers is no different then buying an SLP cat back...which has bigger pipe and the mufflers provide 0 back pressure. Remember guys, an egnine is just an air pump...the faster you can get the air in and out, the more power it will make. Screw the lowend torque that mufflers will give...lowend torque at the cost of highend torque and HP doesnt win races. And get the X pipe...go O/R if you dont mind changing it once a year for inspection.

Just get a pair of Nitto drag radials for the rear only. As for the SLP x-pipe, the catted version is $400, race pipes are 70 not including shipping or installation if you can't install it yourself. But you can save from MIL elims with your predator if you run it with the race pipes. The tb and plenum will just barely produce a little more hp so I would suggest those, but go with an O/R H or X pipe if you can.
