Ok, so yesterday, me and my brother rolled out of my grandmas house. as we were heading home, im in a street that is 30 mph. and im going somewhere around 35. I see these 2 cops posted with a radr. i think ah 5 mph over isnt anything. So i keep going and he gets in front of me and signals me to pull over. So i do just that and my brother keeps going. Mind you, there are like 6 or 7 other cars pulled over too.

The cop comes up and asks me if i knew how fats i should be goiing, and i said yeah. He said, "its a 30 mph zone, you were going 36." at that moment i got pissed as hell. He asks for my license and registration, and i give it to him. He tells me my registration is expired. He says he'll be right back. I start freaking out and looking everywhere for the valid one. Then i realize its not expired, it was issued 3/27/07 and expires 10/27/08. I call him and tell him its not and he goes "OOHH!! im sorry, i didnt notice." At this point I was worried about this cop.

He then stands there marking other cars and pulling them over while me and 7 other cars are waiting for him. He comes back to where i am and says "here you go,
You have a restricted not an operators license, you have to get your operators to drive alone." Mind you, it says in the back of my restricted i can drive at certain hours alone.

But as i leave, i Notice it says 46 mph and i was going 36!!! that means it went from a $107 ticket to a $201 ticket! crapolaThen when i got home, my mom took it cool, and says to take it to court cuz is ridiculous. But then i decide to call my best friend (who is a cop in th same district) and he calls this retard cop and he dismissed my ticket right away.

I got saved big time, buuttt i hate ops. thats the bottom line.

yeah, im 16. here in fl you have to be 18 to get ur unrestricted license. but yeah, in the back of my license it says that i can drive from 6:00am-11:00pm. if im driving out of my hours, then i have to be with a 21 year old driver or older. or be coming or going to school or work.

Whoa Whoa your best friend is a cop in the same district and you "hate"cops??? Let your friend have a read of your posting......

Please.........I'm a cop and too have received several tickets before and after I got on the job. Some were valid because I was at fault and others I felt were not justified. Therefore "Innocent until proven Guilty" comes into play. That's why you live in a democratic society where you are allowed to defend yourself against an unjustice caused to you by someone else's mistakes. And yes cops are people too and quite easily make mistakes just like you might at your job.

It's just unfortunate that you were amongst the cars in what seems to be too big of a traffic project for these officer and they may have been overzealous in their enforcement.

But please don't make statements like I hate cops because most don't fit the typical Chief Wiggum stereotype. I hardly hand out tickets and only to those that are @$$holes and I don't act like I have a big head or give everyone a hard time.

Your mom was right. Keep cool. Take it to court or get it dealt with. For all the times I was dealt fairly by police sure made up for the few times I wasn't.

And MAXTHEHOOKER your comment is unnecessary and irrelevant as it adds nothing to the conversation other than incites intollerance and hatred towards others.

Possibly the lesson here is don't break the law. I agree some cops are dicks but if you are polite then you typically get off easy. I will be a Florida Highway Patrol officer at the end of the year, I have gotten a few tickets and I know I am going to treat people the way they treat me when I am in the officer position.

spoken like a true 16 y.o
true some cops can be rude, but like everyone else said if you treat them with respect they will do the same.
You also have the ability to contest the ticket. Random(or not so random)stops are one of the leading ways that we catch our criminals. Just because you so happened to be inconvenienced doesnt give you the right to go badmouthing the police or what they do to help keep you safe.
and technically they can write you a ticket for doing five over, so dont use that bull$hit excuse that it wasnt anything. If you showed attitude to that cop then I think you got off light.

lol i see where you guys are coming from. i dont hate cops, obviously, my best friend is a cop lol. and i didnt give any attitude towards him. In fact i was nicer than i would normally be cuz i was nervous as hell. But aside from that, all the cops on here, i dont mean it in a disrespectful way. i know either way i was breaking the law, but hey, we all get grumpy over a ticket. Dont take it personal :D

As with ANY and EVERY job you have good and bad ones, it's just when people get pulled over they are never happy about it, and assume every cop is a bad cop. If that same person called the cops for something and the same cop and came to the house and helped them he would be considered a good cop.

If the ticket got dumped, consider it lucky and watch out from now on in that stretch of road.

I hate when the cop says "dont go to court, this wont go on your record" when it really puts 3 points on your license and you loose your license for a wreck when someone pulls out in front of you, I have had some cops be cool as well, like when I was drinking at the park one night and got breathalized and blew a .05 and he says are you good? Im like yeah its wearing off, ive drank before I know when im good, and he lets me go lol that was badass, I always give him the thumbs up or something when I see him..

onto the subject: thats a douche thing to give someone a ticket for only 6 over, I would have been pissed, like 20 over I wouldnt be as mad, but that is stupid, I think it has to be 11 over anyway to stick on your record..

More times than not I have been treated pretty good by the cops when I got pulled over and most of the time I was in the wrong. I try not to ever give them a reason to act like a *ss but I have had three occaisions when a cop has given me a hard time for no reason. One of these times a cop threatened to give me three tickets when his only reason for pulling me over was because I didn't have my tag yet ( I had bought the car two days before) The cop yelled at me and told me to get the h*ll out of his town and walked away laughing!! I have never been so mad. I wanted to start doing donuts right in front of him but instead I handed a friend my keys before I done something stupid.

Guy probably confused himself having 7 cars pulled over. I don't mind cops, but what's the point in waving over cars like that? They do it on the interstate near me....one time I swear he was waving at me, but I kept going. He already had two people pulled over so he could come get me or keep his other 2 fish.

Lesson....check the ticket before you drive off. If you had noticed it before leaving, you could have asked him. He probably would have recognized his mistake. Only human. Except Reno 911....they're supercops. :)

that sucks man. Go to court and just explain the story. Last few times I have went, I and everybody else just paid the fine, and got 0 points. At 25 years old, I don't want points. 200 bucks is a lot though!!!

you're 16 and driving a mustang. you are going to be a target for every cop in a bad mood. just keep that in mind.

that is the serious straight up truth right there. I've had decent luck with cops, but all in all I'm pretty much not a big fan. If someone breaks into my house, i'll shoot there asses way prior to the poepoe's even being called. I don't take the law into my own hands, but i'll be damned if i left someone else do it for me if it involves my family. I guess the biggest problem is when I hear about someone whos house was broken into, the criminal got shot, by the home owner, and the owner gets sued and looses. Thats when i feel like there is no democracy or true sense of the word freedom or private property. I guess i feel like cops are doing what we should be doing for ourselves for the most part, other then catching murderers and what not. I am thankful for the service, just I find a big contradiction in the word freedom when I'm NOT ALLOWED by the government to do a reasonable speed on a road that is free and clear of major traffic or any situation that could impose danger to anyone else. And then I have to pay the Gov my hard earned money, when I'm already paying out the ass. AKA I have to pay to drive my car, pay to own my land (even if its payed off), and pay to support people who can damn well please support themselves. Far as i'm concerned, we've lost sight of what truelly is free long ago.

Sorry for the rant, i'm just becoming more and more politically involved and am finding more that I hate.
