Thanks for the reply guys...

From what you all are saying, I guess the car is not necessarily "doomed" just yet, which I guess just means I dont have to quite "rush out" to get the new engine.. Since I dont drive it a whole lot anymore, Ill see what happens with my bonus check and tax refund early next year (although most of it is supposed to go towards the pool bill)

I guess my main problem now is that I was gonna start "fixing" it back up again to get some more power to it and bringing it to some shows. For now, Ill keep blinging the individual little pieces to give me something to work on until I can do this work.

CHP has given me a good price for a 331 combo which they practically guarantee will hold the power of 10# boost with a snow kit.

Thanks all
RC

Paul... the Dipstick in it of itself is not the issue....that prompted me to get the leakdown test, with the results you see. Do "you" think those are "good" leak down results? (just out of curiousity, have you done one on your car?)

Honestly, I can't tell you if those numbers are good or not as I don't know because (and to answer your second question) I have never done a leakdown test on my car. Did you ever hear the saying "if you don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question?" Well, that is pretty much my attitude when it came to a leakdown test. I know I had a lot of blowby (my dipstick would come out, sometimes the PCV itself would blow out of the lower intake, and on the dyno my breather looks like a smoke stack at high rpms) but I also knew that until the motor crapped out on me or started to slow down at the track I wasn't going to mess with it. I really think you are a little too worried about this. I do think you should start to think about a replacement shortblock for down the road, but for the time being drive the hell out of your car IMO. Are you running a breather now on your VC?

oil is very flammable, trust me. lol

What exactly causes your oil dipstick to pop out. Is it excessive crank pressure? Adding a breather helped Paul, so I figure with somewhere for the pressure to go (through the breather) then less pressure was on the dipstick, is this right?

Check that link out for a cheep 1 way valve thats supposed to help keep your dipstick/pcv valve in. Mine pops out under boost, so im looking forward to getting it.

I had the same attitude as "dont want to know the results"

My local friend with a 500+ 96 that runs 11.4 just said that we should know for sure before we start adding more power (meth kit)

As far as normal results, per the shop, 5% or less is normal for a new motor...

7-10% is "acceptable for an older motor. They would have "accepted" anything less than 15% in a blown motor, but not a 16 and a 20 (as I had)

I think "YOU" are alright with your issue, because you are not running forced induction.

Having said all the above, You all are right about driving it for awhile until I can get the new engine....I plan on leaving the blower belt not too tight and keeping my boost under 6-8 max. (also pick up a fire extinguisher just in case)

Tony...got a link to where you got your engine?

Thanks to all

The article mentions an Incon Systems One-Way Valve. It also mentions a pcv from a turbo coupe working as well.

I'm guessing RC's electric is out.

EDIT-I know for a fact RC's electric is out. My boss lives down the street from RC and he's been out since yesterday afternoon.
