on my way to the beach today i follow up behind a saab who is going too slow and after dealing with it for a bit (and a few cars lining up behind me) i decide to pass him... as i do so on a long straightaway he gets mad i am passing him, nails the gas for whatever reason and leaves me two options... since i am parallel with him and creeping by i could gun it and get by him, or slow down and settle back in line, well i glance back and see that the car previously behind me has moved into where i was so i decide to just use the 5.0 and go out in front. by the time i was out in front in a 50 mph passing zone i was doing 90 and see a small line of cars oncoming and i begin to slow down. turns out there was a Mass state trooper in the pack, he flips on his blues, points at me and as i start to slow and pull over, he just whips on by and turns off the blues. i thought i was fine untill i talk to a friend who might be bull****ing me when he said that now a cop can take a picture of your car with the radar reading and you will get the ticket mailed to you... is this true and/or being used by mass state troopers... im probably being too paranoid but its not like i wanted to be speeding that much nor do i really ever speed... thats the last thing i need is a douzy like that one, so far ive managed to have a clean slate for my first 3 yrs

I think you are fine. He could tell you were speeding so he flipped on his lights to warn you. He most likely didnt have his radar on, he could just visually see you were speeding.

If he wanted you, he would have pulled you over. I have never heard of the picture ticket (outside of traffic signals). So I wouldn't worry about it.

And even if he had pulled you over, you would have had a good story for him. That's total bulls**t for the Sloab guy to pull in the first place.

On another note, did you ever see that story about the people who went to pass some dude who was going to slow and the guy sped up. The car trying to pass went head on into another car becuase the guy wouldn't let them back over, killing seven people. That's why I get super pissed when people on the highway try gunning it when I go to pass them. I think of that every time.

Anytime I pass someone, they mostly go faster than before. Some of them like to ride my a$$, even though I'm going like 10mph faster than they were to begin with. Minivans and imports (not ricers, though) are the worst. The best part is when total "crap can cars" follow me at higher speeds, cause they usually have to worry about overheating or ruining their car. I actually witnessed a ricer overheat on one trip after following me on a straight flat Interstate for several miles at higher speeds. Priceless.

In AZ (i don't know about other states) it's not even a legal ticket if you get it in the mail. you have to have a human being issue you the ticket. so unless someone comes to your door and hands it to you, you don't have to pay it, or so i understand. (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

See you found a nice cop...

Maybe he was a stanger (or at least a stanger at heart)...

I'm not a cop or anything, but the same thing happened to me. I was messing around w/my friends 01gt, nothing serious, but we were speeding, a cop pulled up and flashed his light, we thought we were gonna get pulled over and he just kept on driving. I don't know if he just didn't want to waste his time, or what, but I was greatful. I dont' think you'll get a ticket.

I second that, and I'll have a beer for you just to make sure the aforementioned beer is consumed in a timely matter...

how can he send you a ticket if they take a pic of the front of the car (which if you were going towards him is what he'd get). They would have to get your plate at least.

I agree with everybody else its a load of BS

I've never heard of picture tickets for speeding either, I wouldn't worry about it.

Speaking of people gunning it when you try to pass....today I was coming home from a shop where I got a quote to remove a ding I got in my rear quarter panel the other day from some dumbass in a parking lot (so I was in a pretty pissed off mood to begin with). Anyway, I was behind this Ford Escape in a 40mph zone, then the zone splits into 2 lanes and 55mph, so I go to pass the guy and he speeds up next to me...I look over and he's lookin real serious, so I just stomp on the old loud pedal and run till I had about 1/4 mile between us (ended up at 110mph)....no real point to the story, but those jackasses piss me off...I went a bit overboard and I'm lucky I didn't get caught but it sure was fun as hell at 110...and by the way guys...it was a huge open highway running along a river that is nearly straight for 5 miles...10am on a saturday morning so no traffic... before I get a heaping helping of flaming...

i live in nj and my senior year i pulled out of the school and took off normally down the highway and this guy in my school in a older ram charger suv like broncos and blazers pulls out with his no exhuast and guns it my camaro was also kinda loud the cop in the school pulles out doin like 100mph and pulls that kid over. he said he got off cause he had a pba card and i didnt do nothing so i wasnt worried and then 2 weeks later me and him got reckless driving tickets in the mail. i went to court for it and i was a police explorer so i worked with cops and had my buddy call the town and got it down graded to unsafe no points just a larger fine. SORRY to worry you just telling you what happended to me. but the only thing with that is the school had copys of our driving liscnces for the parking permits so i think that had a huge role in him being able to do that.when i get out of the marines and become a cop im defently not goin to do that crap if i pull you over and let you go then your good to go.
