ok fellas, question for ya

I currently use the Snow meth/water stg 2 (375ml nozzle) kit on the car, with about 8psi. It's about to be pulley'd down, so I want to go ahead and get something going here.

I did some logging last night, and saw the iat's go from 14x to 110. It was pretty warm and humid out so I knew it was going to be warm, but I want to try and get those temps down some more if possible. I just wrote snow and email asking if I should/could step up to the next size nozzle (625) so we'll see how that plays in.

I was thinking about an A/A intercooler setup to go along with the meth/water. I wouldn't mind picking one up and installing before the dyno time next month, but it's just alot of cost to add: intercooler...new maf....so on

whatcha think?

oops did I put this in the wrong section?

You can post here lol...

I have a HUGE intercooler from ebay (they are CHEAP) and my IAT's are ridiculous. The FMIC is 100% efficient....meaning if it's 110^ outside my IAT's will be BELOW 110. I don't run meth or anything either. If I were you, I would buy a cheap FMIC from ebay and mount that bad boy up front.

yea i have the snow kit also and an intercooler as well. before the intercooler my temps were around 100-110 deg. to give you an idea of how well an intercooler can work...it was 95 deg here in detroit yesterday. i was actually curious on what my temps would be because i had just installed my intercooler a few months ago. so i went to an empty airstrip with a few friends and did some logging. at WOT and 12 lbs. of boost my IAT was 83 deg. that is friggin awesome!!!! granted that is with both but hey cooler is always better.

How about this one?

You can probably ditch or sell the meth injection if you are getting a front mount. Do not think you will need both. A good flowing frontmount will do the job just fine. You can sell the meth and get some $$ out of it towards the intercooler. Most people run the cxracing intercoolers from ebay. Its 31x12x3. Here it is. It will require some pipe modification, but nothing to huge. This is what I will probably end up doing.

For those who have a fmic, or about to do so....are you going to switch to a blow-thru set up?

I have, of course, draw thru atm...guess that would add to my cost as well.

When I go with a front mount I will probably go blow-thru but some people do stay draw through. Remember, wtih a front mount you will loose some boost. You will make the same or better numbers with less boost. So if you were going to go with a 3.3" pulley from your 3.6" you will make the same numbers or better, but loose or keep about the smae boost....if you want more boost, usually guys with front moounts drop down to a 3.1 or 2.8. I got a 3.1 waiting for when I go front mount :nice:

I'm all for track times and hp is a + lol

Just thinking of everything I would need to make the transition to blow-thru...guess a special maf or does the sct 2400 still work with a flange of sorts?

I think you can convert that to work. Some people go with the new 05+ slot style MAF's but I am sure SCT has something that will work. Yeah, I would go with a front mount, sell the Meth. and get a RR 2.8" pulley and start saving for a short block :rlaugh: And I would suggest having all the ends welded instead of using the silicon cuplers which sometimes can come apart

I know i've gotten off track here lol, but what do you think (psi wise) I will be seeing with a 2.8 pulley and a fmic? Would the stock sb handle it until the winter?

I do have a 2.8 RR pulley already in my collection, but it's 6-rib, wonder if i'd see any slip?

I would say with a 2.8 and intercooler you would be around 14 psi give or take. Some see 15 or 16 I think. I would think with the RR you should be ok with a 6 rib. I woudlnt think it would slip to crazy because your not making crazy crazy numbers. I have a friend running a 2.8" with front mount making 15 pounds on the stock motor. Numbers are around 450 and 475 on race gas. But you are on borrowed time when you get those type of numbers

FMIC!

Vortech stay with draw through to save money, Vortech's tune very nicely draw through.

Procharger go Blow through.

I went blow through with my Vortech and it runs perfectly and tuned awesome but it really isn't needed.

I am also running a 3.12" pulley with a Anderson Power Pipe and see 10lbs all day, 11.5lbs on the dyno.

If you go blow through get in touch with Justin at VMP tuning. com, he will set you up with everything you need plus a tune to get you running. Also plan on venting to atmosphere, I do and it's not bad at all. Good luck.
