Okay I got my Rollmaster Timing Chain from Ed and I'm supposed to use the Brass Thrust Washer supplied with the timing chain...

Now here is the situation...

I first put the thrust washer between the cam sprocket and cam retainer plate...(no it didn't fall down)...and after bolting down the cam bolt (w/ washer) on the cam sprocket I could not turn the engine over...it felt like pretty severe binding...am I not supposed to tighten down the cam bolt much at all??...how much?

Next I went on corral.net and a well known and well knowing "Kim" on there said that it is supposed to go between the cam retainer and cam (he knows his stuff)...so I took everything apart again...and did this...and it did not bind BUT...the cam sprocket (from the side) is pushed in more than the crank sprocket so it is an uneven pull and it is harder on the engine...???

What do I do?...how much is the cam bolt supposed to be bolted down?...

PLEASE HELP!...

Thanks,

David

Yes bottom sprocket is on all the way...it is against the block or whatever it is down there...

Where did people put their thrust washer and how did you do it...?

Wouldn't the thrust washer being in between timing chain cam sprocket and the cam retainer hold down cause the friction that keeps my engine from turning smoothly...because while the cam sprocket is trying to turn the washer is stopping it while it "grips" the cam retainer plate...

How do you solve that?...do I just leave the thrust washer in between in snug and then tighten down the cam bolt enough to keep the washer snug without pushing the cam sprocket against the thrust washer???

Please help...please...

on the back of your sproket theres a little groove it fits in thats were i put mine .first after your done timming the mottor install the bottom spocket to the dead bottom of the shaft.next put your copper ring on i used a little grease to hold it on wrap the chain round the top first then on the bottom tappit in the key way softly then install your bolt .thats how i did mine
