lifter noise??

heard a load ticking noise,,took off leftside valve cover..found a follower laying in bottom of head ??????

thats what i need you to tell me...when i started it up we heard a loud noise like a bad lifter..added a qt of oil and noise went away...after cleaning out inside of blower car starts but wasnt firing on left side.. can a bad lifter allow this to happen..the top of the valve looks fine and the spring looks like its all thier...what are your thoughts?

it was the leftside head the 2nd cyl.back from the front and looking down at cyl, its the bottom right follower that fell off.. is this like hitting the lottery 1 out of million?

You've never had the heads off previously have you?

no me but ford changed head back 3-4 yrs ago....just removed the lifter,,,bottom of lifter is shinny can i see movement if i clamp down with plyiers

u.m. replaced lifter...

runs like a raped ape,, thier is a slight tick but IMO its quieter than new...

hope the valve is ok ,,,,,,but if it was bent or not fully seating should thier be noises like a bad lifter??

I don't know if you'd be able to hear it over the injector clicking and exhaust rumble or not. Glad to hear the car is running again though!
