im putting together my dss 331. and i got a new set of ford racing roller lifters ready to go in. but ive searched threads and read posts that there is supposed to be some kind of "dog bone" looking thing that belongs in there? is this something that has to be in there? if so? where do i find one of these?

The roller lifters have tie bars between them and there is a spider, or sheetmetal piece with a finger that reaches between each pair of lifters to retain them. It bolts into the lifter valley. Note that if using stock Ford lifters, you have to have a late model roller block, with higher lifter bosses. It should also be threaded for the hold down bolts.

Summit
or
ebay has used "roller conversion kits" all the time

New ford units are supposed to be pretty good.

Aftermarket units are more expensive and don't seem to get higher reviews than the ford units.

I'll be getting new Ford lifters soon for the sewing machine / stroker motor.
